Jump Start

  • I feel like I already know what the responses will be for this one, but you guys have such a wealth of experience and knowledge that perhaps I will be surprised.

I've been at a plateau for two weeks after losing the first half of my goal loss rather quickly. (I swear, it's because I wrote a post about losing so quickly, I jinxed myself!) I've also... not exactly hit a motivation plateau, but I'm definitely not as eager and revved up about the weight loss plan as I was originally. I fear i'm falling into a 'I've already lost 25 pounds, maybe the rest isn't that big of a deal' sort of mindset. And it is a big deal, to me, I want to have a normal BMI and fit back into all my clothes and never ever have my mother do the inch of pinch thing on my belly again.

So my question is, have any of you ever done a 'jump start' on a diet? I've dropped a hundred calories starting Sunday (from 1500 to 1400) and I certainly don't plan on fasting or anything like that... but sort of a extremely clean eating for a week kind of thing, or serious calorie cycling, or something like that? If you have any ideas or you've done something like that before and it's worked, please send the ideas my way. Thanks!
  • Hey!

Two weeks isn't a plateau, it's just a stall. If you've been letting up on exercise, or if you've been sticking with your calories but using them on sugary or fatty foods, that can cause a stall.

I'd say, don't worry about changing anything right now, except perhaps your mix of nutrients. It's normal for weight loss to stall sometimes.

  • Eating clean won't hurt you, if that's what you want to do. Just make sure you're getting enough calories and enough of the right mix of foods (protein, healthy fats, etc.)
  • Hey!
There is definatly nothing wrong with changing things up! It can help to re-motivate you and keep things moving. My advise would be to change up your exercise routine, go to the park and play, or buy one of those cheesey 80's workout videos and get to work
Also... if you arent doing this already drink PLENTY of water and replace empty calories with whole grains, fruits and vegtable.
Hope this helps! Good luck, try to find your motivation
