  • I eat ketchup, too. I just searched out the one with the lowest carbs and ate about 1/2 of my usual amount, I also like salsa on eggs. Or try chopping up dills pickles into your eggs...it gives them same sweetness to them!
  • I am/was totally addicted to ketchup, and I've learned to love my eggs with salsa... totally phase 1 friendly
  • Heinz makes a low carb/low sugar ketchup thats southbeach friendly and really good, I prefer my eggs with veggies and salsa.

This is a little off topic, but....

I, like you, can't stand eggs. I don't like them omeletted (is that a word?), fried, scrambled, boiled, poached, whatever. Since I've been on South Beach I've begun eating "weird" foods for breakfast. I'll have leftovers, chili, beans, cabbage, and all kinds of weird stuff for breakfast. Works for me.

I do eat a few "normal" breakfast foods though - like yogurt, V8, and Kashi flaxseed waffles.
  • Here's my trick with eggs. It looks like a huge pancake, tastes like french toast. I eat it every morning.

    1/2 cup eggbeaters
    1/4 cup ricotta
    vanilla extract
    splenda or agave
    cinnamon
Whisk it together, pour into medium pan, cook low/med heat until set, flip over one half like an omelet, cut in half to make it easier to turn over. I use agave over the top, but it's good alone.

Later in phase 2, add blueberries to it!
  • I agree with mustang. If you don't like eggs, why force yourself to eat them? I like eggs but I rarely eat them for breakfast.
My favorite breakfasts are leftovers too - or an open-faced meatloaf or turkey sandwich with spinach, refried beans with salsa and cheese. I also like the cottage cheese smoothie. Oatmeal or oatmeal breakfast bars are great for Phase II.
One thing I love about South Beach is that I get to pick and choose what I want to eat. I couldn't stay on a plan that required me to force myself to eat stuff I don't like.
  • heres something i tried... its kinda weird so forgive me lol... i seen the recipe for custard for 2... i was starving and didnt wanna wait... i sprayed the frying pan with pam, beat 2 eggs with a little milk, and added the 3 spoons of splenda... i cooked it, constantly mixing it around... when it was done in a few minutes it kinda tasted like my nanys rice puddin without the rice!! lol. this is how i will eat them from now on, no need for cheese or ketsup!!
