One of the things I have the most trouble with is the desire to eat big meals late at night. I come home from work at 11pm just famished and before I catch hold of myself, I've stuffed myself with something that would have been better eaten as a lunch or breakfast, and will just sit in my stomach for hours while I 'sleep it off.'
No more. I have discovered the trick.
I watch "How Clean is Your House" on BBCA as soon as I get home. I follow that with "You Are What You Eat," and maybe "Dirty Jobs," if I'm really struggling with it. If you can watch these shows and eat something at the same time, you've got a stronger stomach than I do.
Anybody else do this? I soooooo recommend it. Since I started DVR-ing and watching these shows at night, I've completely stopped overindulging before bed, other than a beer or cup of unsweetened tea.
Another trick is to tally up everything you've eaten all day and calculate the calories. If I've consumed more than 1,500 cal or so, I find it easier to forgo (or adjust for something healthier) what I wanted to eat at the end of the day. My sister and I email each other our food journal every night before bed so we'll have some accountability. This has completely eliminated my weekend binge-eating, a habit I've had for years, in just a few short weeks.
What are some tricks you guys/gals use?
