Blisters?

  • I have a blister on my heel, one on each foot. They're on the bottom of my feet, towards my heel.

I have already popped them with a (sterilized) needle, put some anti-nastiness cream on it, and put on band aids.

What else should I be doing? I really need to be able to run on Wednesday and Thursday for Lacrosse, so I want to make them better asap!
  • Try buying socks that are made out of moisture-wicking fabric (not cotton). That helped immensely with my blisters. Turns out that your feet sweat a lot--more than you'd expect. If all that moisture stays trapped in your socks, it can cause blisters. I got Nike's Dri-Fit socks, but there are lots of different brand out there.

If you don't have good, well-fitting shoes, consider upgrading your shoes as well.
  • Why did you get the blisters? I find it really helps to put a big patch of moleskin on the blister area and it prevents it from coming back/ getting worst, and also to use synthetic moisture-wicking socks as opposed to cotton varieties.
  • I got the blisters from a new pair of sandals. I was taking a walk and of course they started hurting when I was really far from home, so I had to wear them all the way back.
  • For next time, you'll probably heal faster using something like Spenco's blister kit. IIRC it's not supposed to be used once the blisters are popped.
  • I buy those Band-Aids for blisters, they've got some sort of stuff in them that makes it feel a lot better and not re-form. They're pretty pricey, though, so I save them for occasions where I really need to be able to be on my feet.

  • Thanks guys! I kept band-aids on all day but now I'm just going barefooted and I'm feeling so much better!
