Cellulite

  • Okay, I've read enough about cellulite that it's generally genetic and doesn't really ever go away... but I refuse to accept that! My cellulite is so bad, you can see it through my pants! It's the most embarrassing part about wearing a swimsuit and I just moved to a beach community.

So I'm creating a full-on attack of cellulite!

    Here's what supposedly works:
    - I'm cutting out caffeine & soda, though I rarely consume it anyways
    - I'm going to do squats & lunges every other day
    - I'm going to do cardio like jogging on hills & sand that really work thigh muscles
    - I'm buying a body brush and will use that daily
    - I'm increasing my water intake to 80 oz a day
    - I'm going to moisturize my legs everyday & consequently massage them

There's a couple other things that I won't try now, like lymphatic massage or wraps, but I might try them later.

    Does anyone else have suggestions?
  • I had cellulite when I was at my highest weight, and as I lost it went down tramendously. I don't know why they say it's impossible to get rid of, becaues honestly, I hardly have any now. I expect it'll get even better as I continue to lose...although I have been moisterizing/massaging my legs quite often lately, maybe that helps.
  • Use a body scrub, it helps to improve the circulation, and then afterwards put on one of those cellulite creams. I have noticed an improvement when I've done that. The only problem is when you stop using the creams, it can come back just as bad, but as you lose weight it should reduce it!

  • My trainer says that going on the elliptical backwards works the muscles that reduce cellulite......
  • I have been told that it has something to do with the estrogen levels in your body. When I started the pill I am on now, I noticed I went from having barely any to a lot more cellulite.
  • Muscles reduce how fat appears?

    What's your trainer's qualification?
  • Stronger muscles underneath your fat deposits can help smooth out the area and reduce the appearance of cellulite. Just google it.

My trainer a has personal training certificate through ISSA.
  • I've heard that muscle helps cellulite.. that's why you don't really see athletes with cellulite but twigs like Paris Hilton have it (I'm being presumptuous and saying she has little muscle... could be wrong).
  • hehehe my butt used to have cellulite and now there's almost none..yay! or it is hidden beneath the muscles..I used to find it so embaressing as well....nasty!
  • angelanicole - you're one of my inspiration people! Our stats are similar, although I'm an inch shorter. :-) How long has it taken you from begining to now?
  • I don't generally pay too much attention, but I remember a few years ago seeing some on my butt and back of legs. I never used to think anything of it because I thought it was so common, even my 3 year old sister had it lol. I think tanning may reduce how obvious it is.
  • My sister is 109 pounds and VERY muscular and she still struggles with cellulite. So i dunno if they can ever go away but im sure they can improve!
  • My cellulite has greatly dissipated since I started running, I have some pretty strong legs... I really think it makes a difference.
  • Stizzle--I began my journey on Oct 1/07 and I am maintaining since Oct 08..I guess a year? I am not counting points anymore just just making sure I eat healthy and work out a lot!
