Calorie Cycling Did It For Me!

  • Hi all
    I started my families lifestyle change on Nov 30. I did well until week # 7 I started only taking off .5 lb a week. (I know some of you are going to say .5lb is .5lb but I am 100lbs over weight, that would take me 4yrs to get close to my goal)

    Anyway I was reading about calorie cycling and I thought what could it hurt. I was taking in 1200 calories a day so last week I did

    Mon - 1200
    Tues - 1400
    Wed - 1800
    Thur - 1400
    Fri - 1200
    Sat (I usually go not count because I do not eat large meals just small snacks, but mentally keep up with it so it was 1400-1500)
    today I have lost 3.5 lbs this week.

    I did not change anything else, I kept my cradio and weights the same just to make sure that was not it.

    So if you have hit a plateu I suggest you try this.
  • Just wondering how long does calorie cycling work for. I ask because couldn't your body also plateau on this pattern?
  • If you were eating 1200 calories a day, I think it's not necessarily the cycling that did it, although I bet it helps. But you also increased your average calories from 1200 to about 1400. That can also really help you lose. Calories too low can make you body adjust your metabolism to live on what it's getting.
