Is this possible?, And what diets have worked for you?

  • I'm 185 right now. And I would love to be 160-165 before the middle of April. Do you think this is a possible goal? Am I setting my goal to high or low? And I would also like to ask if anyone knows of any very effective exercises that would help me work out my mid section and arms without going to the gym? And how long should I work out? I'm just curious, Thanks in advance :]
  • Losing 20-25 lbs in 2.5 months is aggressive, especially if you are in the mid 100s already. I would just focus on doing your best and see where you get. I personally don't like weight goals. Activity goals (staying on plan, exercising, etc) are helpful though.

You don't have to go to the gym to exercise. You can walk, you can hike, you can jump rope, you can do exercise videos, etc. You can also do body weight exercises. You can do crunches, pushups, tricep dips, etc. You can also look into resistance bands which are a good, cheap, portable way to work out.
  • Sign my name on Nelie's post. I never did like "I will lose X lbs by Y date" type goals...they set people up to feel disappointed and upset even if they get good results that fall slightly short of what they had wanted. I DO like activity/OP days/other similar goals that focus on what you DO, not the way your body responds.

  • I agree with the ladies I have a log with lofty goals I set when I started losing weight and it has not worked out the way I wanted. This is despite being very consistent with diet and exercise. I didn't account for muscle gain and improvement in tone, I'm small but I weigh more than I imagined I would for my current size so the number is nice but it might be more realistic to have a clothing size goal especially if you plan on incorporating weight training.
  • i think that a clothing size is a good idea as well, especially if you have a lot to loose and 20-25 lbs is a lot.
  • Yes, I haven't made dates for my mini goals. Just keep trucking until I get there. So far this is working well. Since most reputable diets and books recommend 1 pound a week, if you are posting goals with dates, I wouldn't go farther than that. If you get more than that, you get a bonus. good luck
  • Thanks everybody :]
