scars.. the best way to get rid of them????

  • so I burned myself a few weeks ago I got 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my wrist, hand and fore arm... I'm going to have a big huge nasty scar

I hate scars!!!! SO I'm going to be trying multiple methods to get rid of them

right now I'm using cocoa butter and vitamin e oil from the capsules and alternating those through out the day..

I've also heard tea tree oil works? any one else hear that? any one have any other recommendations? I'm going to be trying them all!!!!
  • oh also forgot add I've heard of using Aloe but is that straight form the plant or a cream? if so what is the name of the cream?
  • ive heard bio-oil is good, especially on fresh scars. I dont know where you get it in america though
  • I had surgery on my neck and it left a large scar that was very visable and the doctor told me that the best way to reduce scarring is for the wound to heal up slowly. Keep it moist with Neosporin (or I guess any anti-bacterial will work). He also said to keep it covered and not to dry the wound out in the open air. The slower the wound heals up the less scarring there is.

I believe that once scar tissue has formed there is no alternative other than surgery to remove deep scars (like stretch marks) even though there are about a million products that claim to do it and another million home remedies, like using coca butter which is basically just keeping the wound moist but why not use an anti-bacterial to reduce chances of infection which I am sure would lead to deeper scars.

Time and the sun will fade scars also. I have about a million of them on my hands and arms from my clumsiness!

Also heard Bio Oil is good. I used it on stretch-marks which reduced the redness so they are less visible.

  • hmm I'll hafta check that out!
  • I have really bad scars on my stomach from Operations and my doctor told me to get bio-oil...

But do not use this until your burns have completely healed.

Also nappy rash cream works a treat too....strange but true
  • MEDERMA!!!!!
I tore my shin down to the bone (sorry if tmi)
and the scar went from being deep purple to skin-toned, and you can only see a slight dip on my leg if you look from the side. It takes about 2 months of putting it on in the morning and the evening, but it does work well.
  • Mederma and Bio oil it is!
  • Use mederma it works really good!
  • I have always hear that vitamin e oil is the best. In fact they have one for scars. It works great!
  • I got the Bio Oil at Walgreen's.

That's right, Vitamin E is great for scars. Your skin loves the stuff. Retinol is also wonderful, but it's also very potent, and a lot of women use it improperly and end up with a retinol "burn" (sounds worse than what it is... with care, it goes away after a week or so).
