Veggie/Vegan Sonoma Plan

  • Hello everybody :
I did read the Sonoma Diet book about 6 months ago and enjoyed it, but do remember that either meat or fish is part of it.
I am from a Mediterrean background and the foods from that region are my very favorites over all. I love good crusty bread, extra virgin olive oil, Greek Kalamata olives, basil, oregano, crushed tomatoes, pasta, beans ..............

I am willing to give it another read, but until I get another copy of it from my local library, can I ask a question of you all ??
Would it be possible to still follow the Sonoma Plan if I do not eat fish, seafood, meat or fowl, with tiny amount of organic dairy only ?? If I elimate the above items, is it still considered Sonoma or just a modified Mediterrean eating style ??

Any thoughts you may have, I would be willing to listen !
    Many thanks !!

  • You can definately do Sonoma as a vegetarian. If you eat dairy that would make it easier. She has several meatless dishes in her cookbook.
  • Thanx Petra, will have another go at reading it and also obtaining a copy of her cookbook from my local library.

It is really the way I prefer to eat, and would rather make healthy choices within the Mediterrean Diet than embrace an eating plan that totally eliminates all those foods I love and have enjoyed my entire life ( olives, olive oil, beans ......)

  • Miss Possum, are you still here?
I was wondering what vegetarian/vegan dishes you might have found that are compatible with the Sonoma diet.
