So yesterday I was talking with this guy and he told me that he thinks I'm beautiful blah blah blah. He goes on to tell me that he knows I'm getting tone and everything, but right now even if I didn't do anything else, I was a 7.5 but he knows that I will be a 10 when I'm a little more fit.

So this gets me thinking..... I've never thought what number I would be. I mean in my head if some celebrities and models are 10's then what shot do the rest of "normal" people have at being 10's?

I've never been called a number before... lol Don't really put a lot of credit on what he said, but it's kinda cool to think about it.

Do guys ever tell you what number you are? I'm sure y'all are thinking I'm crazy, but I am just mumbling out loud!

My boyfriend always has the right answer---"your beauty can't be ranked on a scale. It surpasses any number!"

But really, I've had drunken bar guys say, "Baby, you're a TEN in my book!" Ughh....but other than that, none of my guy friends really talk about ranking scales. LoL

nobody ever says anything like that to me. The only thing DH has ever said was that wouldn't want to rate me a ten because then I'd have nowhere to go but down.


But I'd put myself at a good solid 6.

errr the guy rated you to your face? i would slap anyone who rated me like i'm an object. maybe its just the feminist in me or something, but i dont rate men and dont agree with them rating me.

that being said, i think i am beautiful and my boyfriend tells me i am beautiful every day. his opinion and mine are the only ones i care about.

I didn't take offense to it, we were just talking. It wasn't a big deal. I grew up with having a lot of guy friends, I've been use to the "scale" but never thought about it for myself... it was more like a joke. This thread wasn't meant to be about degrading women b/c if that's what I thought he was doing he would have got hung up on.

Yeah I dont know about the whole number thing...never had someone actually rate me before...kind of glad for that one.

I actually wrote a play about this once (the rating system). I tend to be pretty harsh. I have met several 10s (maybe five?) but most women tend to be a 5/6 IMO because without the make-up we all look kind of average.

But never take too much stock in the ratings, there was once this study that a UK university (I forget which one at the moment) did where they found that both men and women were attracted to traditionally feminine facial features. So, while most women fall around a 5/6 to other women (because we use our own looks as a marker), to men (who are used to looking at themselves and using that as a marker) most women are already at a 7/8.

I have been rated around a 7 to my face, with one horrid little boyfriend saying I would be really pretty if I lost 15 pounds. But I think that is accurate.

Sorry for such a long post, but like I said, I wrote a play around the idea so I have given it quite a bit of thought.

Ruby that's awesome!!! You wrote a play? I would love to read that one! To me it's all just a joke b/c it's based on personal preferences and what's the real marker? I mean even the worst looking female on the planet is she a 0 or 1? or would someone say she's a 3? I mean it's all here say.

I've never been rated, but to me I am about a 4 or 5. Maybe.

DH loves me no matter what and I really don't nag about how I feel about myself anymore. Before, I always talked about how fat I had gotten and how bad I look since having our first child. It put a strain on our marriage, so I stopped talking about it. I might slip and say something once a month, but it isn't a huge rant on my weight anymore.

I'd rather not be objectified and compared to other people based totally on my physical appearances but hey that's just me. Why couldn't he have just stopped at "YOU look beautiful"? I know you didn't take it as disrespect but it's so beat into our society and casually accepted that it's okay to compare people (especially women) based on looks and that’s not okay. I would've corrected him in a hot second!

I've never been rated. I'm beautiful. End of story.
