new girl!!

  • I am new to this website and new to dieting support on the web also. I just need someone to talk to when I am about to drown my boredom and sorrows with cookies and chocolate. I love that there is an alternative site like this too. I guess you could say my lifestyle is not exactly normal. I have read some of what everyone has to say and I believe this is exactly the type of thing that I need. Hope to hear what all of you have to say real soon!!
  • Welcome Goforit!

Please feel free to come on over to the Alternative group - the more the merrier!

Glad you found 3FC, it's been a constant source of inspiration and support for me for years.

  • not feeling very attractive lately
okay here's my situation...... I am 21 years old and am recently out of prison for some drug charges. I have always been concerned about my weight no matter what it was. I have been known to count every little calorie I consume, and compare my looks with anyone who comes along. With my recent incarceration, the fact that I am now back living with my mom, added stress of money problems, I just haven't felt attractive lately. This past week I have been comforting myself with food. Last night was the last straw. I overate for the last time. I decided this morning that I need help. Support. I am about 5 feet 7 inches and around 150 pounds right now. But I am not happy. I need some advice!!! Thanks for listening.
  • Go for it: What has helped me is reading the positive messages on these boards and keeping myself "in check"
I'm much like you, just want to feel good about myself and not worry about what I look like, especially to other people.
I'm sorry to hear that you had to do some time for drugs, I hope that you are clean and sober! Good luck!
  • Goforit: You have been dealing with some tough issues and when we are in the midst of trying to pull things together for a new start, it is easy not to feel attractive and to focus on weight issues, so hope you just keep on working on your health and putting only good things in your body, which, after all, is the only one you're going to get for a lifetime!

BTW, at your height and weight, your BMI is a bit over 22, which is fabulous and healthy. If you lift weights and exercise and have a lot of muscle, you can even go up the scale somewhat because the BMI chart doesn't really apply to well-muscled people.

Go for it ... you know the drill and you know what's best for you, so I say: GO FOR IT!

    Good luck.
  • You guys are all great. I am so glad that I stumbled along this website. I was having kind of another rough day today, but after reading what you all had to say, it truly put a smile on my face. Thank you.
