Hello :) I'm excited to find this place.

  • Hi,

My name is Amanda. I'm 22 years old at this moment I weigh 167 lbs, this is down from 171.5 last friday. I have a problem with eating. I mean, I have no problem what-so-ever with the eating itself, but I have a problem dealing with the results of my over eating.

I quit smoking about 3 months ago. I woke up one morning with no cigarettes, but I had a cough, and I just said to myself, "I am not going to buy cigarettes today or any other day. I am not just not going to buy them. I'm not going to smoke them." I have not touched a cigarette since. It hasn't been a big ordeal and I'm really proud of myself for that.

A week after I quit smoking I did the "Master Cleanse" for 14 days. I know some people think its wacky, but I just wanted to prove to myself that I have the willpower to do what I say I will do.

After that I maintained a weight of about 155 (not *horrible*) for about a month, and then, I don't know what in the **** got into me, but I just stopped eating healthy and started eating like a dirt devil.

I'm not really fond of myself at all when I look in the mirror, and I'd like to change that. I love who I am on the inside. I work full time, I am a college student, and I volunteer with a local no kill animal rescue.. I just.. would like to be able to feel comfortable at the beach, as I live in California. I haven't been to the beach since I moved here 6 months ago.

Right now I've cut out breads, pastas, and rice, especially as a filler. For now, I've cut it out all together, but eventually I may have a roll if we eat out, or rice if we go to a thai restaurant. I've been packing my lunches daily instead of going to the burrito taxi on my lunch breaks.. I think that's making a huge difference.

On an average day I eat like this (since about 8 days ago)
Breakfast: Lowfat yogurt or hard boiled egg, if it's going to be a demanding day, I'll have one of each.

Snack: Grapes and/or 50 calorie cheese stick.

Lunch: Vegetable stir fry/ shrimp stir fry/ whole grain tortilla with low fat cheese and peppers/ mushrooms w/ hummus dip and cherry tomatos...

Second Snack: bin of cherry tomatoes/ cherries/ grapes/ carrots and a laughing cow low fat cheese

Dinner: Stir fry/ whole grain wrap/steamed veggies/ turkey/chicken/ something from trader joes that's prepared already and has no carbs.

Any way If you read that, you're a saint.. and I am very open to suggestions of how to improve my diet, so if you have any let me know ?

You are such a wonderful group and I am so impressed with the kindness and support you offer to one another.

I look forward to getting to know every one
  • Hey, welcome to the site. I personally think what you've been eating looks about right, but I'm so new to this what do I know. Hahah, I'm sure somebody else will be able to help you with that!

Good job on the quitting smoking. Sometimes it just takes a CLICK in the brain to be able to do something like that! I'm glad to see you were successful with that.
