Confused! (Complete Food Companion booklet)

  • I just got WW At Home and I've been looking through the "Complete Food Companion." I've noticed that some foods have two numbers under the Daily Points, one in parenthesis. For example, Minute Rice Brown Rice has "3 (6)" What the heck is the number in parenthesis?

    Thanks!
  • The numbers in parentheses are Set Points. You can use those numbers to eat as much of that food (within reason) at that meal. (If you decided to eat as much of that food item at two separate meals, you would need to count the set points twice - once for each meal) The Set Points are designed to be a tool for situations where it's harder to measure points, or a situation where you just don't want to call attention to yourself.

    For example, at a barbecue:
Grilled chicken (a reasonable portion) - 5 points
    1 c green salad - 0 point
    roll - 3 points
  • Got it - thank you for that explanation! I obviuosly hadn't gotten that far to read about SetPoints in the At Home Guidebook but I was able to look it up after you explained it.
