SBD Successes Thread

  • So, I was wondering if we had a SBD Successes thread...Like, examples of people who have been following this way of life for some time and have lost and/or maintained. Baristamon's story in another thread got me thinking about this and I know I'd like to hear from others on their South Beach stories.

So step up to the mike! I know of a lot of you who should be posting...

  • Well, I haven't been on South Beach that long & haven't lost as much weight as a lot of others here, but I feel very successful with the plan. I've lost about 27# (7# more than my goal) since January. I am able to maintain my loss without any extra effort. I've also dropped my cholesterol by 30 points (214 down to 184) and my waist has gone down 6 inches.

I feel very fortunate to have finally discovered something that works so well for me. I tell everyone about South Beach. I've lost more weight and lost it faster than any other plan I've ever tried. I don't have constant thoughts of hunger and deprivation. I do occasionally go off plan for special occasions but promptly get back on plan and my weight is stable. Actually it's dropped a few more pounds in the last couple months without even trying. I eat 1-2 fruits and 2-3 grains per day plus generous portions of lean meats, beans and reduced fat cheeses. I eat a lot more veggies than I ever have in my life. I am cooking more homemade, unprocessed food for my family and they like the recipes that I have found here. I feel my eating is finally in balance & that's something that I have not experienced since my teen years. You can't ask for much more than that.
  • I've lost 40 pounds since May! My old jeans fit again, and I can buy new ones without feeling disgusting. I have more energy for chasing my son around, and I have more confidence about my body. I feel empowered with the knowledge, ability and determination to lose 20 more pounds. My back and legs don't hurt constantly, and I feel less inclined to drink alcohol to feel better about myself. I would (and do) recommend South Beach to anyone who wants to change the way they eat, but thinks it will be too hard. Its really not, and its really worth it.
