  • Hi to all of you. My name is Mary and I am new to posting on this board. I'm hoping to be able to give and recieve support while on my weight loss journey. A bit about me: I am 34 years old, married for 15 years, no children but praying that we are blessed soon. I've been struggling with weight as long as I can remember. Graduating high school I weighed about 195 and thought I was awful fat. I would love to be there again now! I lost about 25 pounds my freshman year in college with regular exercise and sensible eating. I slowly gained that back plus more as the years past. I currently weigh 290. I lost about 30 pounds in 2007 and was at 260. I conceived in that year and miscarried at 14 weeks. We have not been able to conceive since then and it is in the time period since the miscarriage that the 30 pounds returned. I plan on following the South Beach Plan along with regular moderate exercise as I have been successful with SB in the past. I look forward to meeting you all and making new friends. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Oh my user name is bellygirl b/c I want to lose my fatty belly and replace it with a baby belly!
  • Welcome Bellygirl!

Lots of great folks here who have really helped me with my journey so far. I've been here for about a month and this place gets a lot of credit for helping me stick on plan.

Also kudos to you for getting serious about weight loss before the 1st of the year! I think a lot of people give up and just gain in December and decide to start over in January. You'll be that much further ahead in January!!

Hi and welcome. Motivation is all fine and dandy. But we can't rely on it soley. For me, it's never to be found when there's cheesecake, chocolate, cookies and fried foods around . That's why it's essential to make a commitment. Without an ironclad commitment to lose the weight and to eat healthy, it's next to impossible to resist all the temtpation that we're surrounded by. It's all too easy for that motivation to fly out the window just when we need it most, but once you make a commitment - that sticks around a LOT longer.

I'm glad you've found this place as it is the very best for support, encouragement and advice. Stay strong and you CAN do this. You really, really can. All the best.

  • Hi Mary, it's nice to meet you. I had 3 of my children after the age of 35 and imagine there would have been more if I had actively tried to conceive again, so you have plenty of time. I'll be praying for you.

Atta girl! You gotta start somewhere and today is the perfect opportunity! Take it a day at a time. Heck take it an hour at a time. Just stick with it and build and keep on building. One foot in front of the other. I'm telling you, I know it for sure, that you CAN do this.
