Wednesday

  • Good morning Wow Sherri. You had one of those days didn't you. It is really hard when life throws those kinds of days at us.
I think you would be better off with the shorter goals. It works better for me. As soon as Easter challange is over we will have a July 4 one. Most of these are around 6 weeks. I won't make my goal but I am still looking for a loss even if it is small.
I have lost some of my vacation gain so scale will not be up as much as it would have been. So I am glad for that.
It is real summer weather here. Hot and hotter
Time to go. Have a good day
  • Wow Sherri what a day. How is Megan's foot, and the older couple. I would have been grabbing all of the wrong foods. Especially because it's quick. I hope you have a wonderfull vacation. You really need it now.
Eleni- glad you are back on track
ps-i'll be back. It's lunch and I'm back.
I hope everyone is having a great day. I found out that the last dr work sent me to agree to keep the 10 pound restriction, saying that I won't get anybetter, except for very long term. I am able to keep my appointment with my other doct. Now I'm waiting to see if work will ok that restriction.
My case will stay open till further notice. HR sould get my results today, we will see what happens next.
I hope everyone is doing well
Sherri-you leave tomorrow. I hope you are home later.
    Miss talking to ya.
I think everyone is doing well. You all hang in there. We can do it
  • HI
    Good Morning Ladies
Hope everyone is doing ok. Sounds as if there is alot of losers on this board. But isnt that wonderful. Before you know it there will be all kind of KOPS here. And that will be just awesome.

Sherri I hope you have a better day today. How's Megan's foot? And you will be back on track today.

Eleni I am with you on the shorter goals. I know our group is always doing some kind of contest. And I dont really like to do them. I am a person that never wins anything. And then I feel like they are competeting. And I dont like to do that.

I was wondering. Someone posted on here and I dont remember who. But it was a thing were you take 2 jars. Put marbles or rocks in it. And as the group lost weight they filled the other jar. Well I brought that up to our group. But I couldn't remeber everything about it. They are going to start it next week. But they are wondering what is the idea of this. I told them it is to see how long it will take to lose x amount of lbs. I have 282 little pieces of colored rocks and little fishes and seahorses in the jars. Then they wanted to know what they got if and when we emptied the jar. Another girl and I thought about donating that much food to the local Senior Centizens center. They kinda like that idea. But one girl said Well that seems like alot of food. But then a couple of others said. Not really. So I dont know how it will turn out. But I thought if whoever could give me some more info on this. I will take it to them on Tues. eve.
Well we had a girl lose 9 1/2 lbs in 3 weeks last night. But she went and had all her teeth pulled. So she hasn't been able to eat much. She said mostly apple sauce and soup.
Well I better get off here. You ladies are doing great. Keep up the good work. I will check in later. Have a good day.

  • Hi Everyone,

Sherri, I can only say what everyone else has said, What a day you had! I hope Megan's foot is better soon. Its so hard to keep a little child off their feet. Have fun on your vacation.

Congratulations Penny, Ciecie and Wendy on your great losses.
All together you lost 10.50#. Good job!

Coco...We just use the jar of marbles as a visual aid to keep the members aware of how much weight we are losing as a chapter. We do it year round from the first of January to the end of December. Just like the weight recorder does the resume.
We don't use it as a contest or give anyone prizes. But, I think donating that much food to a local food bank is a good idea. Last year we would have had to donate over 200 lbs. The women really like having the jar. They cheer when marbles go in and moan when we have to take them out because of a gain. The first quarter of this year, we had lost 100 lbs, but some people came back that had gained a lot of weight and now we are back under that 100 marbles in the jar.
I liked the idea that you had of walking 100 miles in 100 days and I thought we could have a theme of losing 100 lbs. in 100 days, but with so many people being gone during the summer, I decided it would be better to wait until everyone is back.

Eleni..I don't know if you get the Orlando paper on the west coast of FL, but they had a big article in yesterday 's paper on the SRD in Daytona. A lot of it was about the queen, since she is from Apopka. It showed before and after pictures. It was a very good article and should get more people looking into TOPS.

I finally stepped on the scale this morning and it looks like I will have a gain this week.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    and keep on trying!

  • Would someone explain to me what it means when people post at the bottom something like 318\250\145?
  • Starting weight, current weight, goal weight.
  • I got a ? and Info
    Hi Ladies
Sorry to post again. But I have a question. I bought some cereal yesterday. My question is this. Is anyone doing the points. I was thinking a couple of you was. But my question is. I was figuring the points this morn. And if I figured right. It has no points. Here is the info on it.

Its by KASHI. They call the cereal To Good Friends. It is a high fiber trio of flakes twigs and granola.
    Serving size 3/4 cup
90 Calories, 1 gram fat 8 dietary fiber.
Then they say to use 1/2 cup skim milk. I and hubby had it for breakfast this morn. Wasn't to bad.

The other thing I have is. I found Baked Dorito's. They are by Frito Lay.

Serving size 1 oz or about 15 chips.
120 cals 3.5 fat 2 fiber. I tried these last night after weigh in. They arent too bad. Hubby kinda liked them also. Son wasn't too happy with them.

For weigh in for us last night. Hubby stayed the same. I lost 2 lbs. Dont know how. But then again. I really had to eat below points over the weekend.
I also found some ff caramel dip for apples. Not bad either. I got it in individual containers. It has 3 points for the container. I also got that yesterday. Had that and a apple here just a little bit ago. So I just thought I would pass along that info. Hope it helps.

FLgal On the marbles. Does each person count out there marbles. Or do you do it as a group. Like last night we lost 22 lbs and gained 8 1/2. Or do we just count out 14 and put in the jar. Someone asked about the 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 lbs. Dont you count those. I said no. Just the full lb. Like if you lost 2 1/2 lbs. You would only put 2 marbles in the jar. Is this correct. Thanks.

  • Coco, We do count the 1/2#'s. Our secretary keeps the marble count in her notes. And when the weight recorder announces the net loss, she will tell me if we have 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 lb, left over, and we add it to the net loss. Like you had 14.50 net loss last night, next week if you were to have 13.50 net loss, you would add the two .50s together for an extra marble (a total of 28 marbles). Our gals like every ounce counted.

You were telling earlier about the girl that could only eat liquids and was losing a lot. It reminded me of what a neighbor told me several years ago. She had gone to her Dr. and he told her to cut out the solids. And she did. She was eating soup and so forth. When she went back to the Dr. she had lost a lot of weight and the Dr. asked her how she had done it. She said "You told me to watch the solids". The Dr. got a big laugh out of that and told her "I did no such thing, I told you to watch the SALT!"

    Have a good day!

  • Well, I am at work and I think there might be enough of a lull to actually compose a post.

Nita, I laughed and laughed when I read your solid story, thanks for the hoot!

Sherri, I hope this a more relaxed day! I am doing fine with my Challange, but when the world conspires to change my plans, I am often at a loss as to how to adapt.

Coco and Eleni, I whole-heartedly agree with small goals, the Daffodil Principle, works for me far better than shooting for the moon.

It is quite cold today -4 C, I wish spring would arrive and stay instead of flirting with us. I went for a run outdoors 2 days ago and it was beautiful when I left the house. Fourteen blocks away from home it started to rain, then it started to pour down in solid sheets of water. I looked like a drowned rat when I got home, I was freezing but exhilarated (sp?).

At weigh in last night pulled off a loss, but, get this,

I WAS 1/4 OF A POUND AWAY FROM THE 100 POUND MILESTONE!

I was a little ticked off at fate or destiny or what ever cosmic joker set that one up. I am bringing Verna (our weight recorder) a McDonald's 1/4 pounder next week.

We also had an excellent members program that I would like to share with you. We were divided into 2 groups and each group was given a fabric bag with 30 TOPS related items in it. We had 10 minutes to figure out the items and list them.
Some of the items were, TOPS magazine, the Choice is Yours, Monograph, a card of support, a $5 bill (for dues), orange, carrot, a hot wheels bus (for PRD), a weight book, a charm, before and after photos, a happy face fridge magnet (to represent your happy face at TOPS), Membership phone list, water bottle, tape measure, a quarter ( fines for no sash), etc........

It was so much fun! You should have seen us manhandling our bag! Then the winning team was given a prize (an apple) and the members explained why they picked the items.
I thought it was a hoot, it was easy to do and carry out, so I thought I would share it, as it is an easy program for any chapter or member to do.

Well, this is turning into a novella, and I do have an insurance exam to study for, so to all you wonderful ladies,

    {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{vibes}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}] to you!
  • Thanks CC for the program idea. I'm making a copy of it so that we can try it soon. It sounds like lots of fun.

I know that you will make that 100 lb loss next week. You'll probably go over 100. You are doing great.
