Jiffypop and Mamaj - thanks for the welcome.
Mamaj - I don't eat pork or shellfish, and I don't mix meat and dairy because I am Jewish and keep kosher......
Yes, Jiffypop - Sam IS the most wonderful, adorable 2 (almost 3)year old ever!! and now his little sister Rosie is coming right up behind him in adorableness!
I'm definitely going to look for that cookbook you mentioned - If I can't find it at Borders or Barnes & Noble, then I'll just have to check out Amazon. Thanks for the tip.
Turkey is high on the list - we cook a whole turkey almost every week, so there is always some in the house - when hungry, I've been know to cut off a large piece for a "snack". I like beans, altho they don't like me too much

I've never had tofu that I know of, but will try to get some to try - know of any good recipies to try? As for lox: I'm in love!!! As a matter of fact, my blood pressure is the best number I have! Kind of low. My supermarket doesn't carry it (only the nova, and I like the belly kind!) so I have to go to the bagel store for it, but it sure is worth it!! As for liver - I'm one of the few people i know who actually like it (only calve's liver, tho) - but I have high cholesterol, so until it is under control, I try to stay away from it.
Trying to prepare food around here is kind of interesting - dh is on WW, so he eats baked potatoes, rice trilogy, bread, etc etc etc - while I look on sort of enviously. However, I eat HUGE cheese omelets (made with real eggs and butter!), or brocoli & cauliflower with a real cream and cheddar sauce -- after all, turnabout is fair play, I always think!
As for my eating patterns, for the next month or 6 weeks, I am working 4 - 11pm, and I have to leave home at 3:15 to be there by 4. Therefore, at around 1:30 or 2 I try to eat my hot meal of the day, and I bring with me a salad filled with either turkey, or chicken or perhaps a can of tuna...... I'd love some portable suggestions tho. It's kind of hard, since I don't have an official meal break, just try to eat whenever I can.
