Sugar is kinda...scary!

  • Five years ago I would look at this section of the board and roll my eyes. Seriously...sugar being dangerous? It's in everything!

After being diagnosed with Diabetes will a blood sugar rating of 980 () I can officially say I am dead afraid of sugar.
Last week was another little kick in the pants to get me back on track.
I went to lunch with my boyfriends and they have 'mini desserts' that come in little glasses. I thought 'Ok...that's, what half the portion you usually have, that should be fine!'

I could barely drive home and when I got home I passed out for 6 hours. Does anyone else find it frustrating that this was from a 'half dessert'? AKA a child's sized dessert? It's completely insane...

Hi I'm Tin, and I'm afraid of sugar!
  • IMO, sugar is at best empty calories...at worst, literally poison. Sorry you're finding out the hard way :/ but you have a real opportunity to turn your health around, now that you know what sugar is truly doing to you.
  • Sugar is definitely empty calories and although it can have a very detrimental impact on our blood sugar levels, for we diabetics, there are many other carbs -- the very highly refined and therefore fast-acting kinds -- that have just as bad an effect. We definitely need to stick with low GI foods as much as possible.
