New Marriage, New Weight! This chicky needs some support!

  • Hello and Happy Holidays Everyone!

My name is Lindsey and I am 21 years old. Since middle school I have been sorta "curvy." Through high school I was in the 160's but okay with that. My boobs had always been too big though. After my mother strapped me into my prom dress junior year we decided that they had to go. In March of 2005 I had breast reduction surgury and my senior prom dress fit perfectly. I went from a DD to a little C and loved my body. But then I went to college. I hit the Freshman 25! I commute to a local private college and I am a senior now graduating in May 2009. These last three years have been super fun but I relied on McDonalds and pizza through most of them. So gradually I creeped to 200.
On June 7th I married my high school sweetheart! We moved to a neighboring town and this Mama's girl had flown the coop. Without learning how to cook. So for the last six months we've eaten out probably 4-5 times a week. I have gained 19 pounds and he has gained 31. WHOA! We just can't keep going this way.
I need help in finding CHEAP, EASY, and Healthy meals for two....and it seems impossible. But I am determined because I want to be a pretty bride again. I don't ever want to be "skinny" really but healthy and cute would be ideal! I don't know what program to do or what exercise regimine would fit? So I guess I'm throwing all this out there and hoping for some inspired advice?
I don't really have much support because everyone else in my family is thin...my mom is super tiny and georgeous. So here is this lonely fat girl...wanna help?

    Much Love,

    Lindsey
  • I love calorie counting, but it isn't for everyone. You just generally have much more freedoms then other diet plans. But this is for life.

Kraftfoods.com has some awesome healthy recipes and so do a lot of the women here on 3FC. I'm sure you'll find all the help you need.
  • OMGH!! this sounds like my story!! My husband and i have been married for 3 yrs now and i have ballooned in the past 2 years. Our first year i did great at keeping up w/ exercise and eating good, but it didn't take long for the weight to start piling on. We eat out alot and i didn't that much before i got married and we like to watch movies alot so not only am i not eating like i should be i'm also on my butt more. Something has got to give!
I'm new to this site so, i'm searching and getting ideas for other folks that will benfite My husband and i.
I've been reading about that "fitday" program. It seems like a good way to organize everything once i get my plan down. But i'm wondering if the online system is just as good as the actual software. Anybody know?

  • Thanks for the site, Wormwooddoll. I'll have to check it out!

Treefoot, I have been looking at it too...while shoveling oreo's into my mouth. I'm one of those "start fresh....tommorow." people, I guess.
  • Hey Lindzey -

Learning to cook really just takes experimentation. Seems like you have a great husband, so try things out! Maybe start with one really good cookbook that covers the basics (Mark Bittman's "How to Cook Everything" is a good one for novice cooks). Once you have basic cooking techniques and some practice with whatever plan you choose, you'll find it gets a lot easier.

Look around here, too, for recipes and ideas. We have plenty!

I'm glad you found us...stick around!
