Headaches...Phase 1

  • Hey all...you get headaches too when starting the phase 1? Just won't go away and I am getting a little tired of them but accepting this is just my body adjusting I guess Is it because I am not eating the breads, oatmeal, and sugar like I was?

Plus, guess it will take about two weeks to see any weight loss??? I am on day four today and lucky me...TOM is here too! LOL Hard not to weight every couple days but I know, just once a week. Your thoughts, suggestions....anything!!! : )

    Thank you!!!
  • I'd hang in there. It's probably a sugar crash of some sort. Happens to some people when they get off caffeine. If you're not nauseous and your vision isn't blurred, I wouldn't sweat it. If your ears start to ring or you do get the blurry vision, nauseous feelings, or anything other than just a plain ol' headache, I'd check it out.
  • It's the "South Beach Flu" and will pass. Try adding more beans or dairy. Your body is adjusting to lower carbs. TOM is holding up your weightloss. It WILL happen! Remember Phase I is the detox Phase - any weight drop is a bonus.
  • Hope you feel better
    Hi Tammy,

I would agree. Most likely it is a caffiene withdrawal headache. Hydrating yourself well could help enormously. I would load up on the fluids (which I know seems counter productive during your TOM) but you might be surprised at how much better you will feel.

Also be good to yourself. Warm bubble bath. Lower lights and sounds around you to stop overstimulation and rest!

Hugz to you and hang in there

  • What Ruth said (that must be how she got to be a mod

I had it all - headache, dizziness, weak. Remember those snacks and if you can make them carb snacks like hummus, cheese sticks, yogurt I found that worked best. For me that mid-morning was crucial. Don't worry about the scale right now, just get detoxed and making the food plan work for you. The rest will follow.
  • Taben, carb counts are not monitored at all during this diet - during phase 1 or otherwise.

As long as you follow the suggestions in the book for foods to enjoy and foods not to enjoy, you're doing fine...high carbs or no.
