South Beach/Low Carb Newbie...Help!

  • Well, I see all these wonderful recipes for Phase 1 and the carb content can be high. Trying to maintain 20 per day and a lot of the recipes do not note the carb count per serving. HELP!

    Am I looking in the wrong place
  • South Beach isn't really a "low carb" diet. It is more of a "good carb" diet. I really suggest reading the book if you haven't already. It will help a lot with understanding what is ok and why. The book also has a phase one menu plan which you can use as a guide, even if you don't follow it exactly.
  • 20g of carbs a day is an Atkins Induction carb intake - are you maybe mixing up the two plans?

    We have some great recipes for Low Carb plans here, but they won't necessarily follow the South Beach Phase 1 rules for their other ingredients.
  • South Beach is not low carb. Perhaps you could borrow the book from the library if you don't have it. Its very healthy because it doesn't eliminate whole classes of foods.
  • Good advice here and on the other thread you posted. Sounds to me as if you should be in Atkins.
