i think i know the answer, just want to have reassurance

  • i started ww in october, but didn't stick with it all that well due to things that were going on in my life. i started exercising and i did lose some weight. if i am remembering correctly i lost 2.5lbs the first week, gained .5 back the second week, stayed the same the 3rd, lost 4.5 the fourth, and lost another 4.5 the fifth (this week). the last two weeks when i have posted my 4.5lb loss on the website it is telling me that i am losing too fast and i should slow down. i don't (or try not to) eat my 35 extra allowance and i don't touch my activity points. i am eating 35 points a day (even though the computer still tells me i should get 37, according to the books i should be getting 35) and exercising almost daily. so, is this weight loss okay since i wasn't being too serious the first few weeks and because i have a lot to lose? or should i try to slow the loss down? i do not want to have to eat my extra or activity points. i already find it hard enough to eat my daily points! any thoughts?
  • 4.5lbs a week are big losses, I only had a big loss my 1st week on weight watchers then it started to taper off. I also think it depends on how much weight you have to lose too, I think the more you have to lose the more it comes off in the beginning. My friend used to get upset with me because I would lose 3lbs in a week and she would lose 1lbs. But she was also alot smaller than me well and she is older than me too and that makes a difference as well. As long as you are eating the daily pts values and not skimping on those then I think for right now you are ok. I will slow down soon, but congrats on the weight loss!!!
  • Whether or not you eat your Activity Points is up to you...BUT...

You should be eating at least SOME of your weekly 35 Points. Your Daily Points Target is the BARE MINIMUM that you should consume each day. BARE MINIMUM.

The weekly 35 Points are not "extra". They are built into the plan for you to use. The reason that they put them in a bank of 35 (rather than just giving everyone 5 more Points a day in their daily Points allowance) is because it makes it easier this way when you have a holiday gathering, party, or a day when you are having trouble wanting to binge-like PMS.)

If you use your 35 Points throughout the week...it's essentially the same as having 5 extra points EVERY day...except that you aren't having them every day. One day you might not use them at all...but you might use 10 or 15 of them at a party or a dinner out with friends. It makes it easier for "life".

    Does that make sense?

Like...next week is Thanksgiving. I plan on using most of my 35 Points on THAT day, as many of us here probably are. I can have a piece of dessert, and a glass of wine...and still stay on plan.

It also makes you naturally cycle your calories...you aren't eating exactly the same calories each day, and this is good for avoiding plateaus in your weight loss.

Don't start saving yet! You have TWO weeks until Thanksgiving .
  • You know what I mean...my weeks are all screwed up.

I was just imagining you resisting things all week ... and then bam ... it's still another week away! Seems like something *I* would do.
