Help! I'm in tears!

  • I just started the actual menu (cream) yesterday. I've been in tears every menu. I don't really like meat (I eat very little) and I am dying with the 6 ounces. I need help. All I do is cry. I don't want to eat (which is new for me) and I DREAD breakfast, lunch and dinner...help!

    I understand the 6 oz of protein was hard! I always do eggs for breakfast that helps! Also there is a great pancake recipe on one of the boards. When I do that I also will do eggs for lunch then. Do you eat cottage cheese? That's always an option, hard cheese for one meal. You have to find variety. How about fish? There are a lot of options in that area. I'll do tuna on salads quite a bit. Read thru the choices! Good luck and hang in there. The program does work!
  • I too have trouble getting down the whole 6 oz. SO.. I bought one of those Magic Bullett blenders & mix my HNS with 3 oz. of cottage cheese, add some water and blend. Then I add a few cubes of ice. It's sort of like a smoothie... and has 3 of your 6 ounces of protein. (For Breakfast & Lunch anyway...)
  • Wow. Honestly if you have to fake yourself out to eat or you're in tears over your meal, I would say that this is just not the diet for you. How can you possibly expect to be happy and healthy if you DREAD eating so much.

    I would suggest you look into some other ways of eating that will make you happier.

  • There is a vegetarian MRC diet---perhaps you should talk to your counselor about that option. And PhotoChick has a point--this is not the diet for everyone and it may not be right for you if it has you crying all of the time. There are a lot of programs out there and you may want to explore other options if this is just not do-able for you! You do eat a high amount of protein on it but once you go to the next menu the portions will be reduced to 4oz.
  • Just chiming in - but I agree with PhotoChick and Finz...you may need to reconsider this particular plan.

    Remember, if you can't take this or any plan and see it as a lifelong change and something you can continue even after your goal is met - then it will not likely be the long term answer.

    Talk to the counselors about the vegetarian plan - and if that will work, great! If not, truly consider whether or not you can do this long term without being miserable.

    I believe those of us that are successful and like this plan feel that way in large part due to the fact that we can be HAPPY while doing it. Not miserable as other plans have made us...you sound unhappy and if you are dreading it so much this early, is it a realistic plan for you?

  • I also had a hard time with the 6 oz. of protein, and finally one of my counselors said I was close enough that I could just eat 4, which was much easier for me (and which I was already doing, truth be told). Anyway, I have gotten somewhat used to it, but I was never in tears over my meal.

    It might not be a good fit for you. I like it because it's quick weight loss, and because I find it easier to stick to than something like WW because I am never hungry. That said, I have found some things I really like. I love my cheese toast (bread with a slice of cheese melted on it in the toaster oven) for breakfast, and I also like the MRC cheesecake for breakfast. That has turned into my favorite meal of the day just because I like my choices better.

    For dinner, I like ground turkey made into taco meat with the low sodium seasoning, and I also eat the rotisserie chickens from the grocery store, and one feeds me all week. They have a good flavor. I put them on wraps with cheese or in a salad. I rotate around my favorites to keep from getting too bored, but you might just need to be a little creative and find things you like. I also used to make french toast up ahead of time and freeze it, which was good, but I'm in the cheese toast rut for a while now, so when I get tired of that, I might switch back again.

  • I'm no longer in tears...my friend is helping me learn to cook with more meat. What do you put on your cheese bread? What's your favorite cheese?

    I'm thinking about trying the pancakes in the MRC cookbook - anyone had them?

    I LOVE cheese toast! I either use the cheddar slices (they're a little less than 1 oz, but I buy large eggs so I figure it evens out) or recently I found smoked gouda slices at Sam's, love it on half a 100-calorie English muffin or in a wrap with a fried egg - gives it a bit of a bacon taste.
