Anyone here weigh bi-weekly?

  • I was thinking of starting to weigh in bi-weekly instead of weekly just to give myself more time to lose and if there is a week that I don't lose I won't be dissappointed.

Just trying to keep myself postive...I hate when I weigh in weekly and the scale doesn't move
  • I sometimes weigh myself up to 3 or 4 times a week - just out of curiosity.

However, I only ever pay attention to the number on wednesdays, which is my weigh in day. If I took each weigh in seriously, the fluctuations would drive me mental!
  • I weigh myself 2x per week On wed and Sun. But like the PP I only count my Sunday weigh in.

My SIL lost 108lbs with only weighing herself one time per month. So you coudl give it a try adn see how it works for you. You can always go back to weighing weekly whenever you want.
  • I often go two weeks without weighing myself. I travel for work and have rule about not getting on strange scales so it can sometimes be long stretches between weighins

I actually prefer weighing weekly or more often - it keeps me focused. Like everyone else I only count one of the weighins each week.
  • I would recommend as few times as possible so in your scale bi-weekly. I did it weekly and then became obssessed and weighted bi-hourly.
  • Hi there,

I know this is a controversial way of thinking, but I weigh myself when I want to do so. Sometimes that is as much as every day. Sometimes it is once a week.

I've learned certain things by weighing myself more often. For instance, I know when I allow myself to eat a meal in a restaurant that I'm going to gain and it is most likely going to take me three days to get rid of the sodium and/or extra calories EVEN if I don't overdo it calorie wise. I've also learned that I lose in spurts. I can go 9 days weighing the same as far as my scales are concerned and then I step on the scale and see that I've dropped not one pound, but two, or even three.

I think the key is not to let the fluctuations get you down. And, I usually don't record losses until I've seen them on the scale for two days in a row.

These are just things that work for me. You'll find what works for you.
  • Beth, I weigh every day because I like knowing. But I have have found the same patterns as you, especially in the last 2-3 months. I have also found that the scale somehow just doesn't correlate with the noticeable, visible changes.
  • Hi!

I think scales are a very tricky thing. I know that I can get easily discouraged when I know that I was disciplined yet the scale doesn't show it...in fact, it was the reason i ditched my last WW attempt! Yikes!

I know myself well enough to know that I can get scale obsessed and this is an area I need to work on.

I have a couple pairs of shorts that I use to determine how I am doing between my monthly weigh-ins....for in the past successes, I know my body loses "pounds" in chunks.....1...0...0....8! It is very much in sync with my period.

That's why food journals areso important....I way to reassure myself that I am doing what I need to do....weight is an art and science!

Thanks all for your support! and ideas and connection! It's so important!
