Susan: You and I posted at the same time I bet. I was ragging about the preachers so it took time! lol
Maggie: We have some lovely friends who are a preacher and his wife and they never got rich either. Like I said, it is a life that chooses you, you don't choose it and it is one of servitude. It is not a life of glory, except when you get to heaven, but one of sorrow a lot of the time. Most preachers of regular sized congregations either stay at the middle class level or below a bit. These mega churches are the ones I was talking about. I guess it just gets my goat about the excessive money involved in it all.
Jean: Again, it is not the teacher's responsibility to speak spanish, but the child's to learn english. I have always maintained that it is the responsibility of the person in a foreign country to learn their language and not the countrymen's responsibility to learn the person's moving there. If you move to France, learn to speak french! It gauls me that Americans think other countries should accomodate us and gauls me that the spanish speaking especially think we all should speak spanish for their comfort level here in this country. Pretty arrogant to want the teachers to learn a language and pay for it themselves as well. I have often wondered about that language program, Rosetta Stone. I hear it is amazing. I know a bit of spanish and a bit of french and a bit of german. I took French in high school and in college and lived in spanish areas after we got married so picked some up there along with Sesame Street
and my grandpa was german so learned some german that way. My arm got sore right away with my flu shot yesterday. I was surprised at the cost though, yowser! Last year, Jack got his at the drs so we paid nothing and I got mine while I was in the hospital after my first surgery so it was included in the hospital bill. We paid $10 apiece 2 years ago at the same Walgreens, because the health department were the ones doing it. This year, unbeknownst to me, Walgreens was doing it and they charged $25 apiece!!! I didn't have enough cash with me and had to put it on my credit card! Jack says his arm is bruised but doesn't hurt. They put it in my left arm and I am left handed so it is sore with the muscle movement. I wonder if she got a muscle when she injected it as like I said, it got sore right away. It isn't hot or swollen or even have a lump, but it sure is sore and achy!I better get the laundry in the dryer and start the rest of the morning chores. You all have a good Thursday!

I ran a couple of errands after school w/o a jacket; it was so nice after wearing a winter jacket last week. We had a going away get together for the computer tech. guy who is moving. His mom is the algebra teacher I spend time with; he was a year ahead of Beth in school so I've known him a long time. His lady boss doesn't have a clue about some of the things that need to be done and they haven't hired his replacement. It could be interesting!
I'm sure you will get it all done in time for your holiday company. One of the teachers went to the court house to vote early and there were some Hispanic students registering to vote. An older gentleman (?) began making comments about letting the illegals vote, how they were taking over America, and it's just not right! An employee was trying the shush him up and escorted him out the door with him getting louder and louder as they went. I know the kids and they are good kids; the government teacher encourages the students to vote and they have discussed the pros and cons of the candidates in class. They probably are better informed voters than some of the older citizens around here.
from Iowa!
every day with their dyed hair, crazy hair dos, tattoos, and piercings. I made two stops downtown and the clerks were dressed up in costumes.
I keep threatening to go shopping for a new set and Bob just says, "go ahead!" Painting and carpet are first on the list for the bedrooms, then the furniture. Have fun at/with Thomas tonight!
in Iowa!
Her little boy, who couldn't have been more than 2, didn't want the M & Ms that I gave him. He wanted the bite sized Snickers! Talk about nerve!
That is too bad about the death of your daughter's friend's husband. I feel sorry for women who never paid the bills nor knew anything about their financial things. My dad did all of that, but my mother knew where everything was in case something happened to him. I do our bills but Bob has all of the financial stuff in a file at the office, along with his business affairs.
party at the building though. There are lots of tables set up and a nice kitchen and serving area downstairs so it will be so much easier to have it there. I will be having guests in for dinners through out the holidays though. Did I mention that I love this time of year! Ah but Thanksgiving comes first and we will be having guests in to eat turkey.
Bob is farming again; they are hoping to finish one area today and move the equipment back to the home place to finish up there. His farmer friend has a hip replacement scheduled as soon as harvest is over, and he is in major pain. The elevators will close early so I'm hoping maybe we can have supper together for a change. The sun is playing hide and seek, but it is supposed to reach 74 according to the weatherman. I'll believe that when I see it since it is only 60 degrees now.
I like matching! I'm glad you are feeling better. Yesterday I noticed that WM had Halloween stuff moved out of the seasonal aisle and Christmas moving in. There was one bare shelf so I wonder if that small area was for Thanksgiving items.
I have seen the hangers advertised on QVC! Thanks for posting the picture. I was reading a magazine, Real Simple, and it showed the handbag hangers. I thought of you!
School was a typical Monday, but maybe more laid back with the extra hour this weekend. Several kids said they were so tired because they were up too late. Duh!
Your health and well being are most important! Jason asked me what we were doing on Thanksgiving because Amanda has to work. I told him we hadn't been invited yet, but we usually go to my stepsister's. In any case, I was not fixing a big dinner because I do Christmas for everyone. I am not a big turkey fan except for a piece at dinner -- no leftover turkey for me.
I love everything else that is leftover though.
