LC treats: I actually like the taste!

  • So, is it abnormal to actually have grown fond of that "low carb" taste? I just bought a few Atkins Chocolate Delight shakes (1 net carb?! That's incredible!) as well as some peanut butter and chocolate bars (12 net, but cut in half from the South Beach bars I *was* eating). And I genuinely enjoy the taste!

When I eat my Atkins bar before a morning work-out, I like to scrape off the chocolate with my teeth, and then take small bites of the peanut butter part and let it melt in my mouth. There's something about the certain flavor and strong nutty texture that goes with just about any specially made low-carb magical packaged food that I honestly enjoy!

    Anyone else with me?

  • I like the taste, too, but I have to stay away from them for the most part because they tend to stall me if I eat too many.

I went to Walmart this past weekend and started to grab a box of Atkins bars because it said 1g net carbs on the front of the box but on the nutrition label it said 19g carbs........I was confused, so that article made it clear to me what is going on.........that is a shame that they are that sneaky with the labeling
  • I go by total carbs, including sugar alcohols, and put them into my count. The "Caramel Peanut" bars, for instance, are 18g - 10g fiber = 8 grams total carbs.

The peanut butter chocolate ones, my absolute FAVORITE, are just 22g - 10g = 12 grams carbs.

I eat salads with grilled chicken the rest of the day, so I'd call it good.
