Flat belly diet??

  • Did anyone see this on the today show this morning? This new diet from the editors of prevention magazine (makes it seem reputable, huh?) Apparently there are 5 foods that help you lose belly fat - the diet calls them "MUFA's" and they are Monounsaturated fatty acids, plant-based fats. Canola oil, flaxseed oil, olive oil, peanut oil, pesto sauce, safflower oil, sesame oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil and walnut oil (serving = 1 TBSP.) Almonds, Brazil nuts, cashew butter, natural peanut butter, dry-roasted cashews, dry-roasted peanuts, dry-roasted sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, roasted pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sunflower seed butter, walnuts,, tahini (sesame seed paste) (nut serving = 2 TBSP), and avocados (serving = 1/4 cup).

You avoid raw vegetables, chewing gum, acidic beverages ( coffee, juice) and salt for 4 days. You eat four 400 calorie meals that include some of the "MUFA's".

It sounds pretty good - thought I would cast the net to see if anyone's given it a go.
  • I bought the book and exercise video but returned them in my 30 day trial period. I suggest you try it and if you dont like it then you can return and all you have lost is the price of return postage. Also, if you subscribe to Prevention they do a monthly column on MUFA each month.
  • Here's a link to a thread here on 3FC for this diet.
