  • Good morning all!

How many weeks 'til Christmas ? What's the plan for this week?

    Have a good one!

    Dagmar
  • Another lb. gone
Down to 133, right on track for the holiday season . Still counting and measuring and writing everything down.

The difference is that I'm also doing this on the weekend. That seems to make all the difference for me.

Have a new source of major stress due to the City again harassing/punishing dog owners/commercial walkers. They literally overnight just shut down our seasonal offleash area. We were led to believe that we would have this area from Nov. - April and we have been very good about keeping the dogs away from it entirely from May - Oct.

This mess all started yesterday morning. I'm so tired of all of it I didn't eat last night though I wanted to binge. Something about watching DH eat all Saturday night just triggered something in me.

I will cope in a different way. Anyone got any good drugs?

  • November is going to be a big month for me. We've got a weekend away with friends booked. We're going to be adult leaders at a youth retreat. Our grandbaby is being dedicated on our daughters birthday (restaurant party). And I go back to my surgeon and probaby back to work.

I've learned, from the mess I got into waiting for surgery, that I need to keep in control of something in order to deal with stress. When the world around is spinning too quickly, I need to keep me stong and centered.
  • Dag - sorry to hear about the dog walking mess, but GREAT job this weekend!

Susan - be strong and focused and you can get through Nov successfully - just remember, you know HOW to do it, and you are refocused now, so you CAN and WILL do it.

Nov. is a big eating month for me too (potentially, I mean) - visit to the in laws for T'giving will be tough. My biggest plan is that I must consistently exercise. And, yes, count calories, which I have not been doing since school started.

Anyway, we can do this ladies... have a good day! Be healthy!
  • Have you gals been reading the threads Glory87 has written about her mother? Interesting stuff about a tiny woman who's never been fat.
  • Hi ladies . . . I got a huge amount of exercise on Saturday. Of course, then I went out to dinner and indulged. The main course itself wasn't too unhealthy -- salmon, green beans, mushrooms, and cheesy grits (which I only ate a little of). I ate too fast and gobbled down my food, because I was really hungry. The main problem was that I also got a drink and dessert, and this place has huge desserts. We got the dessert to go, then at home I cut it in half and split it with DH, but it was basically an ice cream cake with fudge and peanuts. Yummy, but I probably shouldn't have.

I had a minor breakdown in food control yesterday too. I somehow ended up not eating lunch, then ran errands all afternoon. At the grocery store I managed to pass up the bakery section, the pumpkin cakes, the halloween cookies and cupcakes, and the cookie aisle, but when I was paying I succumbed to the impulse buy section and got a candy bar.

No harm done to my weight at the moment -- I weighed in the same as Friday today -- but we'll see how the rest of the week goes.
  • November will be busy for me as well. So far I have a wedding, a fundraiser dinner, Thanksgiving, and a birthday party that I'm throwing. Of course, all of these involve food and only two of them involve food that I prepare (and one of those I have little to no say in the menu as it is DD's birthday and she picked the menu). I'll also have at least one house guest and I tend to cook more when I have guests. It'll be okay, though, I still intend to stay OP as much as possible and perhaps get through November a couple pounds lighter.
  • Hi! I'm new but I figured I'd dive right in here where I belong.

The next week is going to be very exciting, as my sister, two friends, and I are all going to Orlando for a vacation. We're going to visit a ton of parks. Magic Kingdom (for Mickey's Halloween Party), Bush Gardens (for Howl-o-Scream), Disney's Hollywood Studios, Aquatica (Sea World's new waterpark) AND Islands of Adventure at Universal! We're doing one park a day and we're leaving Thursday. I have actually never been on a serious roller coaster before, but everyone else is ready to go and I have made it my mission to ride every one. My heart is pounding just thinking about it. I know it won't be so bad once it's over, but the anticipation! ACK!

It's going to be lots of fun I know, but there are going to be LOTS of eating decisions. Eating away from home is always stressful for me as I don't eat any meat or poultry (fish and shellfish are okay). The last time I went to parks it was either french fries or grapes, no way do I have the willpower to choose grapes every time! French fries I can do for one day but after that I really start craving my usual foods. I'm trying to scout out sushi and indian restaurants in the area and also trying to bring as much of my own favorite food and snacks as possible. I wish we had a kitchen! Four nights is a long time to go without one.

Same deal with Thanksgiving, I'm trying to plan what I want to eat for binge day so I'm not left with all sides at the family meal. Also psyching myself up to ask all my forgetful relatives "did you put meat in this?" I hate to be a pain! I try to make myself something really delicious and savory to replace turkey and roast beef, this year I was thinking a creamy veggie pot pie. I haven't decided completely yet.
  • Hi Elle!
    to the group.

How about some other fruit and maybe yogurt or something for protein at the theme parks? Or milk? Or taking along snacks that are in your eating plan? I've never been to one of these parks so don't know what food options are available.

And how is the creamy veggie pot pie made? We have vegetarian meals every second night and I'm always looking for things to add to the recipe file.

  • Morning!

Yesterday's eating was OK and I did a nice 30 minutes of cardio-ish with light hand weights.

I'm going shopping with a friend today. A nice change of pace but I'll have to watch the restaurant lunch thing.
  • Good morning! I did well yesterday up until I had two servings of dinner, turning a 370 calorie meal into a 740 calorie meal. Oops!

I do not understand my scale. Yesterday I weighed 140.8. This morning, before my shower I weighed 142.2, and after my shower I weighed 141.0. Oh well, that's why Friday is my "official" weigh-in day.
  • jessica You showered off 1.2 lbs.? I have to try that!

    Dagmar
  • i keep forgetting that this thread was started again! hey all and welcome elle!

today i finally, FINALLY got back to the gym - probably only because my night class got finished early. The plan was to go afterward anyway but I was formulating excuses all day. When we got done with a half hour to spare, none of my excuses could hold up! =)

elle, i'd love the recipe for the creamy veggie pot pie... sounds mouthwatering.
  • Halloween - sigh.
Watched DH eat half a box (about 25 bars) of those little Halloween candy bars last night while watching TV. I had a diet hot chocolate with 2% milk. He offered me the bars three times and I just politely said "no thanks".

I had my half of my box last week . And I don't want any more so I took them over to my dad's and stashed them. I'm not a person like Glory's mom who eats 2 of anything so I know I can't keep this stuff in the house.

I don't want any leftovers after the trick or treaters come so the last kids to come to my house are gonna score big

  • Dagmar - you are becoming a paragon of will power. I know it's tough to watch him do that to himself though, and he must feel utterly rotten in the morning after all that sugar. I hope someday he will come around and see you as a role model. Sounds like you are in great control and very focused right now.

We have hockey tournament this week, so tonight and tomorrow night are l-o-n-g days - I'll not be home till 9:30 or so each night. Ugh. I CANNOT wait to have my time back, so that I can get in a groove with exercise... it's so essential, and I just need it!!

    Have a healthy day, ladies!
