What the heck? Walk 7 miles lose 3.4 pounds?

  • This morning I was 146.4. After walking on my treadmill, 7 miles I was 143? How does that happen???? I'm sure I didn't jump 3.4 pounds just from walking, anyone know what the heck this means??? I figure I'm still 146.4.
  • Sweat! Drink and eat and get on the scale again. It will change. Again. Fluctuations are normal. BTW, congrats on the 7 miles!
  • When you exercise, you burn energy stores in your muscles. Burning that and expelling the attached water can lead to a weight drop. Your weight will probably go up again when you refill the stores.
  • Mostly sweat, with a small amount of loss from glycogen stores released. Eat or drink and it'll come back.

And with that much loss, you probably need to drink a good 7 cups of fluid to replenish...make sure you get some extra water today! (1 cup of water = .5 lbs)
  • OMG manda are you serious? No wonder my weight goes up so much after a workout. I drink about 6 cups...that explains the threeish pound jumps.
  • A pint and a pound are the same the world 'round. Or so they said in grade school

Seriously, though, 1 pint of water weighs 1 lb...a pint is two cups...until you pee it out, it's in you and shows on the scale
  • Thanks for the responses, that makes sense......7 miles is not too hard to do when you are watching tv. Just get your fav. series and put it infront of your treadmill and walk. I've watched the Sopranos this way....any recommendations for any good shows to keep my mind off of what my body is doing?? I think I'll start a new thread...
