Think I had a good day today!!!

  • MAJOR CHANGES HERE!!!

I have to brag a bit on myself; as I rarely get that chance!

2 wks ago; I'd have never eaten b'fast..rarely ate lunch..and binged for dinner and late night snacks..

went on a fad diet last wk where I was ravenous the whole wk...went off and it must have clicked..my "ON/OFF switch moved!"

Today; first day where I didnt HAVE to eat a b'fast like I wouldnt have 2 wks ago..I DID ANYWAY! I can't eat right away when I get up; I get sick to my stomach..

so I got up; did a few chores ate about 1/2 hr after I was up; really had to push myself..but I did it!

3/4 C (one serving the box said) of generic honey bunches/oats cereal and an apple, unsweet tea (HUGE CHANGE!)...yeah..maybe not the BEST b'fast..but darn good coming from someone who didnt eat b'fast for the last 10 yrs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (except on rare occasions)

Lunch; we were out on business; we went to a Jimmy Johns sub shop; I got a slim #4 (turkey) no cheese, no mayo; add mustard instead..had lettuce, onions and tomato on it. Passed on the chips as there were no baked there. Unsweetened tea instead of soda/sweet tea.

Dinner; planned ahead! Put a cajun style 16 bean soup in the crock pot..had ONE bowl of that and a few crackers..

Lacking major fruits/veggies today; but I am pleased that I didnt binge..I am pleased that I didnt go break down and get a sweet tea..I am pleased that I went to work out at Taekwondo tonight for 1 1/2 hrs...

and now i'm home working and have not binged! woohoooo!! Normally I'd have wanted to eat something..but so far..so good and I'm almost done workign for the night!! about another hour!!

    Mar
  • Mar - that rocks. Wow. I'm so proud of you!!!

You're right about not enough veggies, but you know what ... baby steps. And these were some pretty darned big baby steps.

Good choices all the way around. Now just keep going that direction!

Oh, and about eating breakfast - I eat about an hour after I get up. I can't eat right away when I first wake up. I usually have some water in the morning while I'm getting ready, then grab a coffee on my way into the office, and eat breakfast at my desk. That's usually almost exactly an hour after I get up. I try not to wait too much longer than that, though.

  • First off, that soup sounds fantastic.

Second, bravo on making the switch to eating breakfast. It really makes a big difference!

Third, I'm so glad you've ditched the unhealthy fad diet. Lifestyle changes will get you where you need to go, and will KEEP you there!

    on your progress.
  • Man, it's always an awesome feeling having a good diet day!
    Good job
  • You have made some really great (and huge) changes! Congrats!!

And I just LOVE cajun 15 bean soup!
  • I'm not much of a breakfast eater either. I don't think it hurts to wait just a bit. But not 5 or 6 hours like I used to.
  • Great changes!! Way to go! Once you get into a habit of a healthier routine you will start adding more fruits/veggies! I don't eat when I first get up either. I have an hour drive to work so I make a fruit smoothie to drink in the car and then when I get to work I usually have an egg white omelet or eggs/toast. By that time I've been awake for 2-3 hours. (up at 5:45)

    Keep up the good work!
  • Awesome! Funny thing about breakfast. When I quit eating a 2000 calorie supper at 10:00pm I actually felt like eating breakfast. I'm hungry by 8am now (about an hour & 1/2 after I wake up).
  • Way to go Mar! I'm not much of a breakfast person either, its mostly laziness on my part. I use to skip breakfast and lunch quite often and i would just tell myself that i could afford to lose a few pounds. instead of losing i was gaining. so now i'm trying to figure out how to fit in 3 meals and snacks and count the calories. losing weight is a lot of work. wish it would have been this hard to gain then i wouldnt have done it. keep up the great work!
  • Awesome!!! Great job!!
  • Way to go!
  • That's great work. We can only take it one meal and one day at a time. Stay focused and keep up the great work!!
