I have a question for the other SAHM's?? What do you do all day?? I mean I usually run out of things to do. My typical day is like this..

8 am get up eat, clean.
10 am I usually do a project with my DS, like play doh or coloring
12pm Lunch
1pm Nap time, this is when I usually work out
4pm get dinner started
5pm eat
7pm Bath
8pm Bed (for DS)

But what I am finding is that some days I feel like I am just sitting around, I try to find something to do but its getting really cold outside so we cant go out as much. I feel guilty if I just sit and watch tv, like I am not burning enough calories or something??

Any suggestions??

If you're not strapped for cash, joining the YMCA is a good option. It gets you out of the house and a lot of the classes for the younger kids are parent/child. I just finished a session with DS where we did gymnastics and swimming for 2 hours once a week. It was included in my membership but every Y is different.

Even going to the mall with a stroller and walking is good exercise and gets you guys out of the house. My kids liked to people watch and go into stores and I would get in a good amount of walking. And that's free (minus gas).

Those are a few ideas but I am not sure how old DS is and if these are even options.

How cold is it outside? I try to walk around with the kiddies until there's snow on the ground (and even afterward if it's above freezing).

Like cakses, I'm not sure how old your ds is. I could spend the ENTIRE DAY picking up after my kids, and never have the house clean (this is a huge point of contention with my hubby, btw. "why is the house always a mess!?"). If he's young (or old) enough that every little project doesn't turn into a total toy explosion, maybe you could try adding more physical elements to games. Play Simon Says and when a person loses, they have to do 10 jumping jacks.

Well I have three littles (7,5,2) and two daycare babies (full time, 16 months and 13 months) so we're pretty busy.

7am get up-breakfast, change boy, get kids ready for school
8am- daycare littles show up, story and song time for 1/2 hour
8:30- crazy dancing (all of us) till about 9
9-9:30 is craft time
9:30 snack
10-napping for littlest ones (till 11:30 usually)
10 I eat my snack, clean up daycare room, run a load of wash and dishes, sweep, dust, bleach all surfaces (
1130-babes wake, change and lunch
1145-1230 is lunch for all of us
12:30 cleanup
12:45 is free play, blocks, tent, dress-up, babies. I sit and play with them
2:00-3:00 walk to school and pick up kids
3:00 snack (for us all)
3:30 my boy and one little go for nap
4:00 pick up for 16 month old
(I clean daycare again, wipe surfaces, another load of wash, bleach rags, sweep, do a vacuum, bleach play foods and wipe down toys)
4:30 pick up for 13 month old
start dinner, put on a movie (first tv of day) for my littler ones, help 7 year old with homework
5:30 eat
6:15 clean up kitchen, run dishwasher second time, sweep kitchen floors, make lunches for school kids, do my menu plan for the next day and input it into fitday
7:00 baths, jammies, reading stories and being read to, getting clothes ready for next day and then all in bed by 8
8:00 I was for an hour
9:00 me home, jammies, nighttime snack and camp out on couch and surf 3fc endlessly

I could use some boredom. Seriously. lol!

Um, have more kids? Just kidding. There are 9 of us kids at home, and I don't think Mom could run out of things to do if she had 40 hours a day.

Do you have any hobbies? Maybe you can take up some kind of craft.

HAHA That is funny!! But I did just remember that I have a bunch of scrapbooking things stuffed away in the closet!! Thanks!!

BTW: My DS is 2! So I think maybe some of the games would be good. We do take a weekly trip to the library for story time. Thanks for all of the ideas!!

I don't have any children but I never find myself lacking for something to do. Lots of -

- cleaning
- laundry
- cooking
- research (i do a lot of searching on cooking, supplements, health issues,etc)
- exercise
- running errands
- reading
- budgeting
- meal planning
- taking care of the cats
- soon to add sewing lessons
- and next spring, adding gardening & canning to the list

I don't have any kids either, so I definitely used to have the boredom problem on the weekends and breaks (I go home to see the fiance and he's always working). Now I do a ton of baking! I love it! I realize it's only for people that enjoy it, but I do this thing where I just experiment with no recipees or anything. Then, if it's good, I take it around the town to all the stores where I know the workers (yeah, it's a small town, I actually even go to the 2 neighboring towns too) and give some to them! It's a lot of fun cause they always get really excited when they see me comin in with a plate. I also took up sewing which is really nice in the winter (since there isn't much to do outside). I realize it doesn't burn many more calories than just watching t.v., but it does make me feel productive.

I have 3 kids ages 1 1/2 , 4 , & 5 so my day goes like this
7:00 get up with kids start the kids breakfast
10:00 get the kids showered bathed and ready for school
12:00 take kids to school
1:00 lay baby down for a nap and go exercise
3:00 pick kids up from school play outside for a fe hours except on Tuesday when daughter has dance class
5:00 cook dinner
8:00 put kids to bed and clean up mess from dinner and spend the next few hours chasing my 4 year old back to bed
11:00 shower and get ready for bed
and in between everything else do laundry clean house and work with my puppy I plan on showing.

I'm a SAHM to 3 - 4 years, 2 years, and 2 months. Honestly, right now I just feel like everything is triage. "You're the youngest, so you get fed first. Oooh, both of you need to be changed, but the 2 year old is mobile and is scooching poop down the stairs so she gets changed first." And housework. Yeah, housework. If I'm maintaining the normal level of chaos and nothing is getting too much worse, then I call it a good day.

(My DH is military and is deployed for months at a time, plus a run a business at home, so there are times when I feel like I have a bit too much on my plate. At least when my littlest one is still this young, I spend a large portion of my day sitting on the couch with a nursing babe.)

I am a SAHM of four; plus I own my own business from my home that have gross sales of over $14,000 a month; so that means I'm shipping a TON of time outta the day///

I wake at 6, get the kids up and dressed, b'fast etc..drop the two older ones off at school; come home w/the other 2 kinda have free range in the play area while I check overnight orders and pull inventory...
then comes mid-am snack for them (they are 2 and 4) clean up from that..
usually try to sit down and get them calmed down for a bit by watching dora or something for me, mind numbing..then we work on some hooked on phonics, read books and do puzzles...

then we do lunch, freshen the 4 yr old up to catch the bus, lay the 2 yr old down for nap, clean up after lunch..

get dishes done, clean up mornings messes..start laundry, do my flylady list stuff...get back on and check orders again, print packing slips, answer customer questions, go get the kiddos from school at 3ish..

come home, get snacks for kids out..
help w/homework for the 10 yr old, while a movie is in for the girls..
figure out dinner, then get ready for whatever event we have going that night; whether it be band, taekwondo, errands, youth group, Church events, volunteering, Boy Scouts, FHA, Pre-K activity night etc..

then girls are in bed by 815 pm, 10 yr old in bed by 830 and 17 yr old 1030 max...at 9 pm I am getting hubby's food ready for his lunch (no I'm not suzy homemaker; I am just trying to help him withhis limited time)...
then about 10pm I finally get to finish cleaning up thehouse from the evening..
about 11 pm I finally get downstairs to get my inventory to package up and ship..
I finally get to bed about 2 am...ugh..

I do try to get some walks in (not often enough), we go to a specific park for 3 to 5 yr olds in our li'l town..

how about a MOPS group?? how about SAHM mom group??

I'm often bored at home as well. I do try to take my son to the park in the morning but often have to turn around if there are gross people hanging around out there. We walk to the post office once or twice a day and at home he helps me water plants, etc.

The hardest part for me is the snacking since I'm often getting him a snack or making him a meal which looks much tastier than mine.
