Thin4Life - Week of 10/13/08

  • Hello, everyone.

Had a good weekend. DH celebrated his 60th and it was a lot of fun. Our dinner at the restaurant was great. On Sunday, we had about 20 people at the house to have cake. The cake was very good--whipped cream frosting, not too sugary. Two of our friends that we hadn't seen in a while stayed for a casual dinner. I had made the mini-meatloaves and that was good. The rest of the weekend was so-so food-wise, but I'm back on track today.

Lori and Melissa, Your weather sounds so nice. We have had tremendous amounts of rain and very humid, hot weather. C'mon it's mid-October!

Lori, Yes, DH rode the full 60 miles. Yesterday, he was in a charity race and did another 40 miles. Well, now that veggies don't make you ill, perhaps your weight will level off. Are you still exercising?
  • Lisa: Glad you had a great weekend and that everything went well with DH's birthday. One of my students is heading to Disney for Fall break--I saw it's been in the upper 80's but didn't realize it's been humid as well. She leaves tomorrow morning and will be there until Sunday.

Lori: I'm glad the nausea has passed and that you're able to eat more balanced meals. It's tough!

We've had some gorgeous weather this past weekend through today (mid 70's) but the cooler temps are supposed to reappear by Thursday with highs only in the mid 50's. The trees are just starting to change here and they look so pretty! I love the reds/oranges.

My hands continue to give me grief--I swear I haven't had a good night's sleep in a long time. My contact with the specialists office paid off--she was able to get me an appointment next Monday at 8:45 a.m. My hands have been cramping more and my fingers feel like they're asleep all the time with the exception of some pins & needles feelings when I'm trying to dry my hair. My hands are even swollen and I can't get my rings on I had to take my wedding rings off because they were getting too tight and I was afraid that if I left them on I wouldn't be able to get them off on my own.

Students go on break starting tonight so campus is going to be quiet the next three day.

On a more exciting note, DH and I booked a trip to San Diego in February! We're heading out on the 12th and coming back on the 17th so it's something to look forward to.
  • Good morning ladies Well I thought I was over the morning sickness - I was wrong! I felt really nauseous for the past few days. To top it off, DH has been finishing painting the kitchen and the smell of the paint makes me feel like I want to vomit! He says he can't even smell it and he doesn't understand why I'm so sensitive to the smell. My reply? "Um... I'm pregnant. Thats what pregnancy does!"

The worst is that he's going to finish painting at night this week and since its colder at night he tends to shut the windows when he is doing it. Very bad for me! I keep telling him he needs to have a lot of ventilation because paint fumes are not good for the baby.

My weekend was interesting. DH's car broke down an hour away from the house and wouldn't run at all. We had to have it towed to the nearest shop. Turns out that the belts he had replaced two weeks ago were improperly installed (we paid $850 to replace them two weeks ago, and $700 over the weekend to fix the problem). At least that service department wrote something up stating that. He is supposed to go to the dealership that replaced them the first time today and get them to pay for the repair we had done this weekend.

Ugh... too much work to do today. I want to be at home sleeping!

Lisa - I'm glad your husband's birthday weekend went well! My good weather looks to be coming to an end soon. It will be in the low 50's this weekend with a chance of showers.

Melissa - That is horrible about your hands! Is there anything the doctor can do for you at night? DH was wearing something on his wrist for a while at night, and I know that helped him a lot. It kept him from being able to move his hand at all, but helped him sleep.
  • Lori, Ugh, sometimes paint makes me nauseous and I'm not pregnant. That's really bad about DH's car; I hope that garage makes good.
  • Lori I hope you got everything squared up with your car repairs. I would be so frustrated/mad about it! I do have wrist splints but I'm way beyond that--it hurts more when I have them on and when I talked to the girl from the hand center she even said the same thing. I can't wait for Monday!

Lisa: I hope all is well with you!

My DH found out he has polyps on his vocal cords--his voice has been raspy for a while and I kept telling him he needed to have it checked; we had seen his doctor at breakfast about a month ago and he noticed it and called him to come into the office. He went to an ENT and was checked out. They also found a growth but he (dr.) doesn't think it's anything. He's scheduled to have them taken care of on Nov. 3rd so it's yet another thing to add to my list.

I'm leaving early today so we can drive up to my son's football game. DS #1 and his wife are going with us and we'll be going out to dinner beforehand. There's a great restaurant on the waterfront right by the field that we're going to go to. It'll be a cold night so I'm going to layer. It's only 52 and tonight it's supposed to be in the 40's so it'll be chilly!

    Have a great weekend everyone!!
