  • Since we are listing books we couldn't finish, I thought it was time for a favorite book list! Or your favorite author if you love most/all of his or her books.

    I loved:

    To Kill A Mockingbird

    Memoirs of a Geisha

    Secret Life Of Bees

Under the Tuscan Sun (My dream..go to Italy and just love it, move there!)
The first 3 or 4 Stephanie Plum novels by Evanovich (then they get repetative)

The Last Of The Really Great Whangdoodles (read it over and over as a child)
  • Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice

Circle of Friends by Maeve Binchy

I seriously love Jennifer Weiner's novels!

I would say that Anne Rice, Maeve Binchy and Jennifer Weiner are my top 3 authors I enjoy the most!
  • My all-time favorite book is The Mysterious Mr. Quin by Agatha Christie.

I'm a big fan of reading funny books whenever I'm feeling down. My favorites for that kind of situation are all of the Georgia Nicolson books by Louise Rennison, and Dave Barry's book of bad songs.

    Other favorites:
    Pride and Prejudice
    The Things They Carried
    All the Harry Potters!

Oh, I could go on and on, but I'll spare you.
  • Katherine (Anya Seton)
    Rachel's Holiday (Marianne Keyes)
    Memoirs of a Geisha
and also To kill a Mockingbird by Miss Lee.
  • I loved Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. I never read the book in school but my son had to in 5th grade. I cried like a baby at the end.

Also, love all the Harry Potter books. There are really just too many to list.
  • Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man by Fannie Flagg.

She also wrote Fried Green Tomatoes, another fabulous read.

Honerable Mention: The Liar's Club by Mary Karr

I have a thing for Southern authors
  • Oh lorddd...where to start?

I like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I love Mila 18 and Kane and Abel, the Kite Runner, and (my embarrassing one ) Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. It's just such a cute/funny book.

There are millions more, but those are my favorites off the top of my head.
  • #1 All Time Favorite, and Best Book Ever
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

Other Favorites (in no particular order, and by no means an exhaustive list)
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
    Don Quixote by Miguel Cervantes
    Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens
The Harvester by Gene Stratton Porter
The Once and Future King by T.H. White
  • My favorite book is the only one I've ever read twice. Crime and Punishment.
  • Another vote for the Harry Potter books. I'm rereading right now actually, and am currently on Goblet of Fire.
  • This is a hard question to answer.

I really enjoy some of the older Stephen king books like 'The Stand', 'Talisman' and the gunslinger series.

I really really liked 'Life of Pi'

Maybe thats a start for favorite books.

I'm also surprised to see someone mention Anne Rice because me and her to do not jive at all. I rather someone shoot me in the foot than be forced to read one of her books. Its a shame though because I like horror novels and I like vampires.
  • Quote: My favorite book is the only one I've ever read twice. Crime and Punishment.
Oh, I forgot about that one. Crime and Punishment was totally fascinating.
  • Gosh I don't think I have a favorite. I just love books.
What my favorite is really depends on my mood at the time I'm asked, too.

Right now I'd have to say that Mystic River by Dennis Lehane is right up there. So is Memoirs of a Geisha. Although I have a special place in my heart for Anne of Green Gables (actually the whole series) and the Sue Barton books as well.

    .
  • Oh Anne of Green Gables has a special place in my heart too.. I haven't read them since I was a little girl but I LOVED them.

i'm a huuuuuuuge fan of both The Talisman and The Gunslinger series. huuuuge. right here and now! wolf!

this is a hard question. my favorite book would probably be the Tao Te Ching specifically Stephen Mitchell's translation or maybe Thoreau's Walden Pond and Other Writings or even The Journals of Sylvia Plath, but these aren't novels. my favorite novel is even harder, because there's On the Road, Wuthering Heights, The Handmaid's Tale, and yes, To Kill a Mockingbird to consider. hmmm...tough tittie.

how 'bout my favorite book i've read in the last year. that's easy.

Jonathan Safran Foer's Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
