Anybody miss soda????

  • I just started back at WW this week and I started the weekend by cleansing myself of my drug of choice-SODA!!! I don't drink coffee or those energy drinks for the caffeine but Pepsi is my choice. I crave it every morning like a person that craves coffee. Plus I work the 3p-11p shift and I find that I need it @ around 7p. I miss it-I want it! I see people talk about food and cake and comfort food. I want soda!!! There now I feel liberated. But I know a 12 oz is 3 points so I keep that info in my back pocket for my fun day. OK just venting. When I was pregnant and nursing I totally gave it up, now 9 years later, I want soda!!! OK now I'm done. Talk to ya'll soon.
  • I still crave soda. I went a good 2 months without it, then drank nothing but diet soda over this past weekend. I felt like crap. Finally had my boyfriend dump the last half of a remaining 2 liter so now I have to drink water. I'm glad I'm getting back into the water habit. Pop is a no-go in this house.
  • I used to drink several of those giant Diet Cokes a day, and quit when I started in April. I still have a soda once in a while. But I have been surprised. I expected it to be TOUGH. But mostly I don't crave a soda anymore, even when it's available. I had decided to choose iced tea instead of soda - but I'm finding I don't really have to *choose.* I just prefer the iced tea (or even water) more and more.
  • I'm still planning for one can of Coke in the morning, but that's it. I had been drinking a lot more than that, and it was really adding up with the calories! It's been really hard to give up my afternoon soda, that's when I really start to droop but the kids are still going strong. I'm drinking tea instead, and slowly getting used to it.
  • The biggest problem that I had when I gave up coke was the caffene/withdrwal headaches - I couldn't make it through a week, so i switched to diet A&W Cream Soda (I HATED Diet Coke). I eventually weaned myself off the soda, and can now have a diet drink as a treat.

I did have a sip of regular coke the other day when we were out to dinner, and it was NASTY! It was way too sweet - I can't believe I used to drink 4 2L of the stuff a week!
  • I gave up soda for the most part when I was 16, started drinking water... Ever since then I've never really had cravings for it. And I've gotten so used to diet sodas, that now when I do have a sip of "real" soda it tastes like sweet liquid goo. Very strange.

It may be difficult at first, but usually within a few weeks you'll miss it less. You can get through this!
  • It takes a lot for me to grab soda anymore. I find most of it too sweet. I used to be obsessed when I worked fast food in high school. I'm glad the obsession isn't so close anymore I may have a small cup once a week or so though.
  • I use to be so addicted to diet pepsi and diet coke. Now I just have San Pellegrino water which is lightly carbonated and super yummy. I actually enjoy it more than soda. Even when I go to a restaurant with the bf I usually order that over a beer or a diet soda. I even drink it when I go down to the pub!
  • I'll have to look for that water, I really like having something carbonated to drink.
  • I stopped drinking soda (and coffee) back in the early 1980's. I had to give up caffeine due to kidney stone issues. I went cold turkey and it was tough at first but I don't miss it. Water and herbal tea became my drinks of choice. I added a squeeze of lemon or orange to my water in the beginning to make the water more interesting.
  • i LOVE LOVE pepsi!!!!!! and i started this week too&am really craving it too but im trying not too bc i can drink a 2 L in one day!
  • When I was younger I drank a lot of soda (we call it pop here). I gave it up, but would drink about 2 a year. I found if I had one, I wanted another, so I gave it up altogether.

I drink flavored water from Wal-Mart. Not calories or sodium. I drink one a day.
  • I cut classic coke cold turkey after my daughter was born. Then got a bitt addicted to diet coke.

Now when I drink soda its a diet pepsi (I still have coke addiction issues) or diet caffeine free pepsi.

If you are having a hard time, have you thought about cutting your pepsi to 1/2 regular and 1/2 diet, until you get yourself weened to just diet. That way you can still have your caffeine.
