new to WW

  • i just ordered my at home deluxe kit... i'm excited.

    I did calorie counting before and lost ~40lbs, but i'm having a hard time getting back into it. i talked to a coworker and she is doing the at home system... and it's working well

    anyways, i think it will be easier for me to keep track of points verses what i was tracking (calories, fat and protein).

    Also, how long did it take for you guys to get your kit in? i did standard shipping.

    Everyone follows it how they need to. And I've found 3FC to be a great place for accountability inbetween my meetings. And well... for all times.

    If you ever want to know what goes on in the meetings, I post a Weekly Topic Discussion for those who don't go in person. (Just in case anyone wants to participate, share their thoughts etc.) It's in the main WW area. Feel free to post if something strikes you!

  • When we ordered our deluxe kit, it came in less than a week.

    My DH and I have been following the WW plan for three weeks now. He has lost 20 pounds and I've lost 11. We love it. We're ever deprived and only hungry when we choose to be!

    It's been an eye opener taking our Points calculator to the store and checking the foods we used to eat. No darn wonder we're overweight!

    I agree though the points calculator sure is an eye opener for the 'old foods'

    I have taken some of the great ww recipes here and even made a few better with few points...Pizza is my favorite food and I have made my own thin crust version and when it is calculated I can have two of my thins (12") for 6pts total

    And you are so right you are only hungry if you choose to be
  • hey i've been thinking of doing the WW/SBD combo.. is it expensive on weight watchers? i know i've been on South Beach and it's quite expensive in my mother's POV.
  • I've done WW several times -- never managed to get to lifetime, but it really, truly works, if you work it. I don't find it to be too expensive, I am paying $150 for a 12 week at work program, and then I just eat regular food, with adjustments to do the points. Like yesterday my family went to a restaurant -- I ordered a hummus and pita appetizer -- I figured it up as 10 points based on the stuff in it. So you don't have to spend a lot on special foods. You can always find something whereever you are, if it's only a salad, dressing on the side. I also have done the online program, which is less expensive and has a lot of good tools. I recommend it.
  • yes bc the ww plan similar to sbd is core&since its healthy whole foods its expensive
  • I don't find the ww flex to be expensive. it is more a question of just where do you want to spend your 'points' instead of buying meat, I buy more fresh veggies to make into one pot meals.

    It really does pay to look at the recipes posted here there are some great ones made with everyday items that most people have in the home.

    Snacks..mine consist of dill pickles (a staple around here) fat free microwave popcorn, raw veggies and fat free dressing (I buy large bunches, cut and clean then store in giant baggie) etc.

  • I use two large low carb/low fat tortilla (1pt each), put them on a cookie sheet and bake for about 5min or so just to make them a bit crisper. Then use some pizza sauce, about a tablespoon each pizza (0pt), add chopped onion, green pepper(0pts), and a 'few' slices of canadian bacon (1-2pt).

    Now for the tricky part the cheese. I make fake cheese. I use a container of fat free plain yourgart and let it drain in cheese cloth and a strainer for about 24 hours (throw out the liquid in the bottom of the bowl) this makes it very thick, like sour cream or ricotta (0pts) and put it on my pizza then bake again in the oven for about 10 min and whoo hoo 'pizza' If you don't want to try making the fake "cheese" stuff use just a little feta cheese for 2pts. It gives my eyes the impression I am eating a lot of pizza, it looks like a thin crust pizza and it fills me up.
