  • Hello,

My name is Barbara and I'm 34 years old. I live in Minnesota and I'm a single mom to a 3 year old girl. I have just started back to trying to get healthy again. Here is some info about me.

I have been overweight most of my life. In 1996 I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. At one time I did lose 20 pounds but gained it back. My weight has gone up and down. In 2007 I did lose 30 pounds. I would gain and lose 10 pounds of it.

Recently, I have had some health problems. I'm having a sleep study done next Monday. The doctor thinks I may have sleep apena. My cholesterol is getting a little high and I'm in the range for pre diabetes. I went to a dietitian last week and she gave me some tips to use. I see her in 5 weeks and gave me a goal of 5 pounds.

I'm really horrible at exercising. I don't know why it is so hard for me. I did start walking on Monday. I want to work my way up to at least walk 5 times if not 7 days a week.

I really hope I can do it this time. I have lost some so I know I can do it. I just need support and support others

    Barbara
  • Hi Barbara!

You may want to check out the 30-somethings, and the Dieting with Obstacles area where you can meet up with others dealing with the effects of PCOS, and pre-diabetes.

With exercise, it's important to be consistent. If you walk 5 minutes a day, but make sure to do it every day, you're ahead of the game.

  • You can do it!

Hope your test goes well! Whatever the results are, it's better to know than to not know.
