Worst Day on Phase One

  • This is my second time starting South Beach and it seems SO much easier this time than last. I didn't even make it through the first two weeks the last time, but this time I am not craving at all (we started Saturday) yet. I'm worried that suddenly the crazy need is going to hit me and that I blocked it out from last time. So. Was there a day when you first started that suddenly it was like Blammo! and it was really hard? Or if I'm not craving at this point do you think that I'm not going to hit that intense desire point?

I also think the ease this time might be related to trying all kinds of new recipes and such, but I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop and was hoping to ease some of my anxiety.
  • For me, the first three days or so were the hardest. I had sugar cravings at night that were rather difficult to say no to.

I've heard that each consecutive time being on Phase 1 gets a little easier. It might not be that way for everyone, but for some at least.

Congrats on an easy P1 and good luck on your way to P2!
  • Rachael, I think the first 3-5 days is hardest for everyone. It depends on how long it takes to get rid of the sugar. But I found that Phase 1 is MUCH easier when you do it for the second time and after. It's not easy overall, but it's much easier. Of course, doing the things everyone mentions, from including P1-safe carbs (tomatoes, beans, bell peppers, etc) to drinking a lot of water, help a lot too.

Glad it's going so well this time!
  • I am currently in phase I as well. I did OK the first 3 days and then I had horrible cravings on day 4 and overindulged a bit on almonds. I started over the next day and have been doing well the past 2 days. Hang in there!
