getting to know you...

  • Hi,

I found 3FC a few days ago and have been lurking around so I decided to join in and introduce myself. Everybody seems so welcoming and supportive!

My weight has just been creeping up & up & up over the last 15 years, especially over the last 2 with some serious stress eating due to family pressures. I exercise pretty regularly but have a real problem with food, because I love it! I am hoping that with some moral support I can finally start moving the scale in the other direction.

Just a note about my username: When I do something extraordinary for my girls (ages 14 & 11) that they are not expecting they always say, "You Rock Mom!" Now I am hoping to do something extraordinary for myself!

I am looking forward to knowing all of you!!
  • Hi urockmom &

I'm going to say it's absolutely fantastic that you exercise regularly. So many of us struggle to get in a good daily amount.

Food... the other half of the equation. What's your food plan? Let us know We'll definitely support you along the way!

    Best of success!
  • Dear Faerie,

Thanks for the welcome! Right now my food plan is to reduce week by week the less healthy things that are in my way (i.e. this week alcohol, next week carbs, following week dairy, etc.). I have started cooking in the last year and have tried to focus on healthy meals-I love Cooking Light-but it hasn't translated into any lost #, quite the opposite so I think that it is the stuff I am consuming outside of mealtimes that is the problem.

I am 42 so I think I will be hanging out with the 40 something gals and probably with the exercise crowd. I am hoping to join in one of the October challenges since it seems a little late for Sept!

    Thanks again!
  • Great plan And those are some good groups!
  • Hi Urock

I am 42, and new as well. We also have a similar amount of weight to lose. It sounds as though you are motivated, and have a plan in place for how you are going to get to your next personal level in eating healthy. Those are two keys to success.

Have you ever tracked your food? I find that to be one of the best things to do in regards to staying on track for food consumption. When I don't write it down, I eventually just start binging on everything going, totally neglecting and forgetting the stuff I may have consumed just a couple of hours prior. I track over at fitday.com. The site is free and can take a bit to sort out. However, once you have it sorted, it only takes about 5 or 10 minutes a day to enter your food in. I have found the benefits to be well worth that 5 or 10 minutes.

I wish you well on your journey!

    Lou
