Trying to Decide Whether to Join?

  • I'm not sure how easy this would be for me to follow. Are there suggested daily menus to follow or will I need to look up points for each food that I eat? Do you work out your meals in advance? Seems like with 2 little ones, I've lost my motivation (& time!) to be creative in the kitchen. It would be nice if there were suggested menus. Are those available anywhere? TIA!
  • I have two kids and I personally think it works great for me. If you join, their website has tons of recipies -- many of which my family eats without compliants

They have two options -- tracking points (I started keeping a list of the common foods I eat and their points value on my fridge, I also mark cereal boxes, etc. with the points value with a marker). The other option is learning to listen to your body cues and eating until you are full, from a list that includes the foods you are allowed, no point counting.

Some days I plan my day out, some days I don't have time to do this -- but I always do best when I keep track of my points.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

It really depends on what your lifestyle is like, but at my meetings there are plenty of Moms.

There are plenty of recipes out there. Many of them quite simple. Lots even on these forums under the WW Foods section. If you go to a meeting there are food suggestions frequently given out, and sometimes people even have a few recipes for the meetings.

If you follow the Flex Program, you will have a base daily points value, and in the beginning it will be a little time consuming to look up everything that you eat. After a couple of weeks, you start to remember the points values for your usual foods and points become fairly routine. Really, though, looking up points takes only a moment. So it isn't much of a hassle.

If you follow Core, there's a list of foods that are On Program. (You have 35 extra points to use on things that aren't on that list.) If the food is on program you can have enough of it so that you are satisfied. It relies on becoming in tune with your body & your stomach.

It works if you work the program. And the group support is just fantastic.
  • to 3FC, cinlo, and especially to the WW forum.

As the others said, you'll start to remember the points of your favorite foods. I've found it handy, though, to write them down. In the beginning, it can be a little time consuming to figure out your family's favorite recipes, etc., but this activity will give you something to do with your hands when you are tempted to eat an unplanned snack, lol.

Planning the night before, for the next day is invaluable. No guesswork when you're rushed, and no reason to just grab whatever is handiest. I keep track of my menus and points in a 3-ring binder, on school paper. (this is also where I keep my food points info) Others go to Fitday, or use a spreadsheet. With some trial and error, you'll find which is easiest for you.

One of the best things about WW, is that you can eat what your family eats. No "special" meals for you, so you cook the same thing for the whole family.

Let me know if I can help you in any way.
