The beginning of a journey...

  • Hello everyone! Well, today I am beginning a new journey. After years of illness, surgeries, etc...my weight has ballooned to 365lbs. Not that I was ever a truly healthy weight since my childhood, but certainly never this "morbidly obese". I was given the go ahead by my doctor to begin a new kind of eating and exercising routine but told that due to my previous health issues my weight loss would be very slow. I'm hoping to prove them wrong but am also keeping my eye on the goal of being healthy. I hope to find this site to be a big encourager as well as to be able to encourage others during this journey. So, hi there to all of you who are walking down this same path with me. May our efforts be rewarded.
  • Hello and welcome!

This site is filled with incredible inspiration and a wealth of knowledge.

Best of luck to you on your journey!

  • Hello and

This is a wonderful site for support. You might want to check out our 300+ forum. We have many other forums too. All full of people walking the same path as you and me.

    Best wishes to you.

  • Congratulations on taking the first steps! It doesn't have to be fast... it just has to be done. You can do this! We're all trying to be a little healthier and drop weight in the process.

Have a look around, there's the 300+ group area, and Dieting with Obstacles that may appeal to you, also the 100 lb club, a very active group. You may want to start there, but branch out and post wherever you're comfortable.

    All the best of success!!!!
  • Welcome! I must say that this site is very informative, inspirational, and motivational. I've been a member since June and everyone here has always been very helpful. Congrats on deciding to make changes in your life and remember that we are all in this together.

  • happyk4evr, we are so glad you're here

What matters is that your journey has begun, not when you started. As I've always said, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." Oh sure, the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu takes credit for that quote, but he's always ripping me off.
  • Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Your words of encouragement truly warm my heart. I'm certain that during those days ahead where the task before me seems so daunting, I'll be able to find some encouragement to keep moving along. Thanks again everyone!
