Tattoos & Weight loss.

  • I wasn't sure exactly where to post this, but I guess this is considered "general chatter".

I have 6 tattoos, and from previous things I've read, weight loss has little affect on tattoos. They say that it's usually weight gain because it causes a "balloon" effect. I read that losing weight actually makes the tattoo look darker and more defined. Also the tattoo's placement takes part as well. Obviously if you get it on your tummy, there will be changes.

I wanted to know if anyone has had personal experiences with a tattoo and weight loss. Or if you've seen no changes at all!
  • Hi! I found a thread from a few months ago that might give you some insights: tattoo's after weight loss
  • I've got several tattoos and was worried aswell. Thank you Meg.
  • I had cherries tattooed on my lower abdomen when I was 18.....like a moron....they became more like peaches when I was pregnant with DS1 and now, they are becoming more like cantaloupes (ok, very, very small cantaloupes).
  • Thank you! The thread answered most of my questions. I placed most of my tattoos on my less fatty areas. I avoided my back, stomach, and upper arms/legs.

When I lost 25lbs before, I didn't notice much different either. I just wanted real advice from people who lost significant amount of weight with tattoos. It's always better to get information from those who experienced it.
