Anyone say affirmations?

  • At my center we were taught to say personal affirmations daily. They said it would help us get closer to goal. Well, I have to say I've been saying them lately, even though I'm on maintenance. Since I still struggle every day to make good choices I found that telling myself "I like being fit, I hated being big" really pushes me in the right direction and away from the pantry.

Though maybe this would help someone else!
  • We do affirmations every day at our office. And I have a personal one as well. We try to always keep them positive, so if we have an "I don't want to" statement we try to look at what is the opposite and make it an "I will" statement.

We did a neat exercise a few weeks ago where we took the words "I am..." and had to come up with at least 4 things that were work related and make them into "I am" statements. Even if they were things that we wanted to be but weren't yet. So if someone wasn't all that punctual but was working on it they would say "I am punctual." It was cool.

    This is my personal one:
I like myself. I love myself. I make healthy choices. I have abundant energy. I'm kind to myself and others. I stay calm. I'm organized. I set reasonable goals for myself. I accomplish what I set out to do. I'm sexy. I'm sexual. I'm grateful for my body. I have fun. I make time to take care of me.

    These are great affirmations!
  • I used to have the attitude of "I deserve it" - treats, sweets, food wise indulgences. So now it's "I deserve it, I work hard, I earned it . . . . I deserve to be healthy, fit and have a healthy long life." I still deserve it, but now what I deserve has changed.
  • EVeryday in everyway I'm getting healthier.
Everyday in everyway I'm getting stronger.
Everyday in everyway I'm loving myself more and more.
EVeryday in everyway I'm getting sexier, inside and out,
  • I don't know if it is an affirmation or just more of a mantra but I try to remind myself that "no food taste as good as being thin feels". I say that to myself whenever I am tempted to go off plan.
  • We learned about affirmations in our connection class. One of the exercises was to find a new one every day put on a 3x5 card so that you can have a collection of about 30. I'm going to start doing it as a mood lifter. Also we were told it doesn't have to be about weight
  • Affirmations
I haven't been to any of the classes but I think this is a great ideal. If I have to stop and think about what I eat I know it makes me make better choices.
  • I think this is a great idea - and I love "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels"...so true. or Nothing tastes as good as not having to buy new clothes feels! Or, nothing tastes as good as pulling on my old jeans! There are a million ways to end that sentence, huh?

  • I've been working on affirmations too -

It feels good to weigh _____ lbs - I insert the number I hope to weigh at the end of each month
It feels good to eat on program
It feels good to move more
It feels good to love and take care of me
It feels good to smile and be happy
