I am setting up an acct with spark people to track my food and I have the option to track specific dietary goals. Can someone tell me a good range for protein, fat, fiber, etc (something I am forgetting) per day? I am still using South Beach but I want to make sure I am getting enough of the essentials.
TIA
Emily
The American Dietetic Association (ADA) recommends a minimum of 20-35 g/day for a healthy adult depending on calorie intake. Protein and fat are more variable depending on food plans and personal goals. I have read that most women should shoot for 75 Gms. of protein daily. Fat amounts vary too. On Weight Watchers I used much less fat than I do now. I like to use Dr. A's guidelines of 2 servings of fats daily plus the daily nut serving. Monounsaturated fats are supposed to help with weight loss (nuts, olive oil, avocados, flax). I generally get about 30-35% of my daily calories from fats now when using SBD guidelines, so maybe you can incorporate that into your calorie limits.
I aim for 40/30/30 - carbs, good fat and protein. I track on my PC Fitday.
