What to do with that sugar you're not eating...

  • Hi!
So, I found myself wandering around the house last night, bored... trying not to eat. I opened the cabinet and there staring me in the face was a lovely container of white sugar. Though I really wanted to make a cup of tea and pour a heap in there I didn't. Instead I poured a hot bath, combined some olive oil with the white sugar (raw sugar is too course) in a glass container until it was a nice smooth paste. I sat in the tub and 'steeped' until soggy : ) Using the sugar scrub made my skin feel fantastic! It also made me feel very much in control- as I had avoided a possible binge. I am in week three of the SBD, I just restarted my second week of phase one, as last week was not my proudest accomplishment I am very happy that I have discovered that I really do have the power to control my eating and though it is a long road even these little triumphs are huge.
SO! The next time a sugar craving creeps up on you go ahead, have some! Just keep it external It really does feel great...
  • Wow, I'm gonna try this!
  • This is a great idea! Can I put some essential oils or something in it to smell nice? Like rose water or lavender?
  • that sounds divine!!`
  • What a great post, EarthMama! Personally, I dumped the sugar, but found that it was necessary to keep a small amount around for when people visit or come over for coffee. Thankfully, it doesn't tempt me.

Here's a recipe for sugar scrub, including essential oils (if you want). Yum! Guess it just proves that, like Dr. Oz says about trans fats (aka Crisco), sugar's better ON your body than IN it!
  • That's a good idea! I have a ton of it I need to get rid of...I might do this tonight after I get off work!
  • I loved this post too cute! and fabulously in control!
  • Brilliant idea!
  • There's a similar recipe on recipezaar, which made me laugh when I saw how many calories were in it!!!

In case someone was thinking about ingesting it...
  • Yay! I'm glad you found this useful. Really, you can do anything to make it your own. I usually use salt and oil for my feet, because it is much more abrasive. I almost always add a drop or two of essential oils. If you have herbs like lemon balm or mint that you want to put in that works as well, just let it sit a while (1-2 hours at least)

How empowering...I can have this and I can make it work for me in a way that I deserve... Lovely!
  • Yeah, sugar scrubs are AWESOME. You can do the same with brown sugar of course.

What part of NC are you from?
