New/ Flex Point Questions

  • Hello. Go I officially made the switch from counting calories to counting points. I'm doing weight Watchers online, and there was a question that I had regarding the flex points. I get 26 pts a day and 35 flex points a week. Can I divide them evenly so I get 5 extra points a day (31) or are they meant to be used like on a one day binge? I ask because If I look up the points I'm allowed (not using the flex plan) I would be allowed 24-31 points a day. Has anyone lost weight eating the maximum number of points a day? I'm about 5lbs being down another point bracket too, so I would assume I should stay closer to the 24 than the 31. Any thoughts?

    Thanks!
  • Hey Shawski!

Following the Flex Plan, you get to use those 35 Weekly Flex Points any where and any way that you want. You can certainly add 5 points to each day. You can absolutely save them for one day that you're going to eat out or eat a little extra. They're flexible!

If you're following the plan as it is now then don't worry about the old points height/weight charts & ranges. Forget them. Follow the information given to you now.

Enjoy your 26 Daily Points. Add in the Flex Points when needed, as explained above. Just remember to retake your points quiz every time you get into a new "decade". For example: I'm in the 230's now. When I get into the 220's I will retake the quiz to reaccess my daily points.

Any other questions, just make sure to keep asking until it makes sense!
  • On the other hand, I am going to continue eating my 26 even once I drop into the 180's until I feel my losses are suffering because of it I am points-greedy, I take all I can get!!

Otherwise to all Faerie said regarding the flex points. Use 'em however you would like. I think the best way to work the program is to play around with it and see what works best for your body - some people don't do well with 1 super high intake day, some people don't like spreading them out. The plan is meant to be flexible, see what works for you!
  • And, don't forget, the more active you are, the more points you get

The first time I dropped out of a weight range, I recalculated my points and they went up!! Because, I went from sedentary to more active.

There are also exercise points you can earn -- I personally don't use them, but you could get an extra 2 per day as well.
  • I tend to not lose using my extra points. I exercise so I give myself a couple extra every day. Really the only time I use my extra is on Sunday. I might use 10 or 12 extra points that day.
