hello

  • Hi there! I joined here a while back but am finally getting into reading the boards. I think I posted on the 30 something board when I first joined, but I guess it's not as active since I got like no response, lol. So I'll start over here.

I'm Lynn, 34, and mom of three. I have been working at this for way too long - I started gaining in my early 20s after some hard times and emotional eating. I was 212 at my highest. I got back down to 161 after my 2nd child was born, and then went back up to 180 (emotional eating yet again, urg) before I had my 3rd. My baby days are now behind me so I'm really working to get my tush in gear again for good! I am working my way back out of the 180s now with short goal of 160. (I'm 5'8".) My long term goal is 145 but I don't know how reasonable that is for me after 3 kids, lol.

Looking forward to getting involved here!
  • Hi Lynn!

Congratulations on the work you've done so far. You've come a long way.

How are you planning on losing the weight? (Other than hopefully quickly ) Calorie Counting? Joining a group or a gym?

Have a look around & post wherever you're comfortable!

    Best of success!
  • Hi & thanks!

I have changed my eating this way - no carbs at breakfast or lunch, only at dinner. (I'm hypoglycemic, so keeping my carbs down until later in the day helps me keep my blood sugar happy.) Lunch is a big salad with grilled chicken most days. Dinner I try to keep it simple, since I'm trying to feed kids too, and just mind my portions closely. I do a lot of grilled or roasted entrees, with a rice or noodle with no added butter or sauce etc.

Exercise - I have a treadmill but walk outdoors when the weather is nice. I also have a bike, which I was out on for a half hour today. We camp as a family so we go hiking a lot on the weekends.

I use SparkPeople (won't post the link in case that's a no-no here!) to keep track of my nutrition and exercise.

I think that's my whole plan in a nutshell.... oh, and I do still have my old Richard Simmon's videos that I like to pull out every once in a while.
  • Sounds pretty solid! (I have a Simmon's video I keep around for rainy days, too. )
  • Hi, I'm new to the boards as well. I'm 35. I've been posting a bit in Nutrisystem buddies forum but I just recently discovered all these other boards. I'm just trying to navigate through this website now.

I'm on day 13 of NS. So far so good. I've lost 5.5 pounds. I'm feeling great and very motivated. I freaked out a couple of weeks ago when I finally got on the scale and realized I was 4 lbs away from my highest weight ever (high -195lbs).
  • Slac

Sounds like you're doing great now. Best of success to you! And keep posting wherever you're comfortable.
  • Hi Slac! Welcome to you!
