roma tomatos

  • Okay so I grew them they are great. Does anyone know a recipe or two to use them in?
  • The main thing I do with romas is salsa. They are perfect because they are too juicy, so salsa is great consistency. Also really good in sauces. I canned a bunch this summer also to make spaghetti sauce in the winter.

    My salsa is
    Romas
    onion
    cilantro
    jalapeno
    squeeze of lime juice
    salt, pepper
    garlic

It's finely chop everything. Simple and delicious. Good luck!
  • I meant to say that romas are NOT too juicy!
  • This will sound weird but I cut romaine lettuce into quarters leaving the bottom. I spray Olive oil and Italian seasoning on it. Then I grill it. I cut up some roma tomatoes and sprinkle basalmic vinegar on it. It's so good! I don't grill it for very long at all, but it's SOOOOO tasty.
  • Thanks ladies! Both of these sound worth trying
  • Even a nice little roma tomato salad

Slice them up and place in a bowl. Add a drizzle of olive oil - a dash of italian seasoning and minced garlic. Crack some sea salt and pepper over top, cover and let sit in the fridge for a couple of hours.

Nummy. I'm waiting for mine to ripen!
  • I like salsa and I do mine a teeny bit different...I'm not much for hot and spicy:

    tomatoes
    purple onion
    cilantro
    fresh lime juice
canned black beans, drained and rinsed
    S&P to taste

All ingredients are 'to taste', depending on how much you like of each ingredient and how much salsa you need.
