Bragg Liquid Aminos deadly?

  • so i am researching things i need to make my vegan kitchen complete. when i googled bragg liquid aminos the search engine came back with a lot of articles about it being toxic, mostly from raw fooders who see everything as toxic, right, but there are several sites claiming as such.

    here's one of em:

    http://www.raw4life.com/index.php?op...d=28&Itemid=81

it says that hydrochloric acid is involved in the making.

now i am wiggin out a bit on this recently added item to my grocery list.

    do i mark it off?

what are your thoughts on this veggie chicks? do you use it? are you still alive?
  • Quote: do you use it? are you still alive?
    Nope, I'm dead.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

I would say consider carefully if you have issues with MSG. And it's obviously a processed food, so you have to look at your comfort level there.

And most of the "sources" on that page are very speculative. Although it can be hard to pin these things down.
  • I use it and LOVE it AND am still alive.
  • I've never heard anything about it being toxic before. I've used it before and am not dead, but I tend to use organic shoyu and tamari sauce at home.
  • I don't use it, but I know several people who do and they are all alive and well! I'm sure if you don't use hugely excessive amounts, you will be all right.
  • It makes me insanely bloated and just bleh feeling - likely the MSG. I just sub tamari or soy sauce in recipes that call for Braggs. There's not enough protein in it for the side effects IMO.
  • i still haven't bought it and for me the jury is still out on the hydrochloric acid jazz. i found a vegan worcestershire sauce that i use for any recipe calling for braggs or soy, so it works
