Pasta Portion?

  • On the back of the whole wheat pasta box it says that 1/7 of a box is a portion. Now I'm not about to portion out my pasta in groups of 7 just to see how much it is (well, unless I have to, lol). So, does anyone know how much a portion is?

    Thanks!

  • Depends on your box size. If it's the same as mine, it is a 14 oz. box, with 2 oz servings. Do you have a food scale to help you measure that out? Otherwise you could go by the WW guideline that 1 cup of cooked pasta is 4 points.
  • Thanks for asking. I was wondering the same thing yesterday. I do have a food scale. Ill weigh it out next time.
  • Usually a serving is 85g dry. At least for every pasta I have ever bought.... cup size will vary on size of pasta.
  • Funny you wrote this post! I actually did measure them out into 7 different portions. Mine is whole wheat rotini pasta. I got about 1 cup and then another 1/4 cup after it was cooked. Mine was a seven portion box as well.
  • Thanks! I don't have a scale, but I'll just judge it by one cup of cooked.

  • Dolly.. that is what I do.

I would have to otherwise cook my pasta in a different pot from the rest of the family if I measured it dry.
  • I find the pasta measurements confusing & frustrating. For me, well, I also have a family and it's a royal pain to have to try and figure out the proper portion size. I could do it by dry ounces cooked... and then just eyeball a cooked portion after that. But I usually go with 1 cup of cooked, too.
