How do you stay motivated?

  • When you are doing WW at home how do you stay motivated? How do you stay accountable. What keeps you from slipping back into your old patterns. I know for a fact that we have junk food in the house and I should not eat it but its SO hard to stay away from it! Any advice?
  • Seeing an old pic of myself keeps me motivated. I also keep a pic on the fridge of my favorite athlete. The same pic also happens to be my avatar. I just feel a whole lot better. That in itself is incentive enough for me. I bought pants that were supposed to be incentive pants and they are way too big on me now. A waste of money in my opinion. I won't do that until I hit a big plateau again.
  • I stay accountable by writing down everything I eat. You could figure out what kind of junk food tempts you the most and replace it with a better version. For instance if sweets are your thing thaere are all kinds of low fat sweets made with whole grains. For me cheese crackers were my weakness and so when the mood strikes I'll have 15 of the Cheddar Sunchips.
For me, I Really want this and eating things I shouldn't isn't going to get me to my goal.

  • I did a few things -- first, I got rid of the food I shouldn't eat o.o Throwing away candy and the like was very hard but it makes it so much easier to go for an apple or something like that if bad stuff isn't there to choose from!I'd try to get rid of the bad stuff! Thankfully for me, hubby's trying the WW thing too, so he was on board, and we rarely have bad snacks/food in the house anymore.

I do the picture thing, too -- the inside of my medicine cabinet, I posted the pictures I took right before I started my program (they're not pretty XD). Looking at it everyday and then taking a quick jump on the scale and seeing any number below that is a real pat on the back

I'm pretty new here but I'm hoping to meet friends and keep myself accountable here too. I have the advantage that my mother started WW in January so I can call her anytime I need help or support too, but maybe just find someone who is going through the same thing and keep in contact with them.
  • At the beginning I didn't have any junk food in the house. Now, it doesn't matter to me so much as I find I don't really want them. I plan my meals each week and stick to them. I allow myself a reward each week so I don't have cravings. If I do want something, I eat it and make sure I work it into my points.

I ask myself - "How bad do I want this?"

Tonight my daughter gave me a hug. She looked up at me with an astonished look on her face and told me she could not only touch her hands behind me, but overlap them!!! She told me she couldn't do that before.

That ^^^ is what keeps me motivated.
  • Whenever I feel that I'm about to blow, I pull up this site and another and look at the before and after pictures of everyone who's achieved their goals. After reading success stories, it always gets me in the mood to LOSE LOSE LOSE!
